I refunded the game so I am no longer having this issue. Good luck to everyone.

@VR-Rhyno Clompletely uninstalling and reinstalling (as suggested here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/How-do-I-completely-disable-controller-on-PC-for-BF2042/m-p/10958756/highlight/true#M2934) solved the "mouse 5" problem for me. I made a backup of PROFSAVE_profile first and restored it after the installation completed and then was even able to clear the "mouse 5" entries by holding escape.

@WonkoRealtime I tried Backing up [Moved it to a BackUp Folder] the PROFSAVE_profile and then allowing BF 2042 to remake the PROFSAVE_profile. The [Mouse 5] Keybinding issue remains unchanged.

  @GH0ST_D0G_0 did you reinstall BF in between?
  
  Deleting the Origin-Cache never worked for me, but others mentioned to manually clear the BF cache and this sounds promising. It's under %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Documents\Battlefield 2042\cache

    This solution worked for me, deleting the cache. Previously deleted the settings folder, but this did not work.
