I pressed alt+tab from the game to the desktop, then alt+tab back to game, and the resolution does not change. The indicator is at 3840x2160, but I think it may be actually displaying 1920x1080 even though the indicator points to 3840x2160. A visual glitch?

After startup, the game indicates 2160p with the previous resolution of 1440p. When I cycle through the resolutions, "apply" does not appear for 1440p. When I cycle back to 2160p, apply appears also. The whole video was recorded at 1440p with nvidia shadowplay with recording resolution at "in-game" resolution. I think it displays 1440p, but it always indicates the wrong resolution of 2160p after startup. I think only the indication is the problem. Sorry for the delay! @groundedjet,
I saw the video it did hit me to ask, what monitor do you use?

My monitor is the 4K Asus VG289. This only happens to BF2042 while other games do not have this problem.

The problem has been fixed.

I did nothing but let the game update to new version. It was automatically fixed.

For the sake of not starting yet another post for this, I still have the exact same issue with the most recent patch, drivers for my nVidia card, and Windows 11 update:
- My screen is an LG OLED C8
- My desktop runs at 4k 60Hz
- I've set BF2042 up to run at 1080p with 120Hz in exclusive full screen
- I have enabled HDR in Windows
Now here's what happens in the game:
- At launch BF2042 stays at the desktop resolution and refresh rate (4k, 60Hz)
- Yet, the settings screen will show 1080p with 120Hz
- I have to change the refresh rate to 119Hz and hit "Apply" to get BF2042 to actually change to 1080p
Sometimes an alternative version of the issue appears:
- At launch BF2042 stays at the desktop resolution and refresh rate (4k, 60Hz)
- The settings screen will show 4k with 60Hz
- When I manually change the resolution to 1080p and 120Hz the "Apply" button disappears (as described by @groundedjet before)
- I have to change the refresh rate to 119Hz and hit "Apply" to get BF2042 to change to 1080p (same as above)
The above behaviour also seems related to whether or not BF2042 actually switches to full screen at launch - sometimes the game opens at 1080p resolution but stays in windowed mode (noticeable by the game window taking up an exact quarter of the screen) and I have to manually switch it to fullscreen via Alt+Enter. This bug has existed in Frostbite/Battlefield games since at least BF4, which had the same issue, albeit _much_ less frequently.
I confirmed my findings by checking the resolution and refresh rate information on my TV and noticed this mismatch between what BF2042 "thinks" it runs at and what resolution it has actually enabled.
PS: I have a very similar issue with BF4 but not other non-Frostbite games. In BF4 the settings screen will say "1080p" and "120Hz", but I have to manually change/apply the resolution at least once to get it to _actually_ change to the resolution that was set up.
