did you find anything to fix this?
- @EZMarshmall0W The same thing happened to me.... i actually started the game up no problem the first time then it crashed for some reason while i was playing and ever since then it does this to me all the time. i find that if you try enough times it will eventually start up like it should but then next time you try and open the game it happens again.
- KaptainKrisp4 years agoSeasoned Newcomer@Animosity_5E That's what happening me. I get back into town, play for 6 hours. Wake back up played a couple more, then when I went to get back on later last night it boots up the game like it's the first start. Takes me to the "calibration" process screens, then sends me into the AI battle but won't let me leave to game menu because it's "installing updates". I've spent close to 2+ hours just opening the game and then closing in hopes that it will work. I've reinstalled twice, verified game files 11 different times, tried booting from both origin and steam (where I own the game) and I get nothing. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but everytime I'd try to open the game it would prompt a window to come up saying something about setting up first time launch, not sure if that is relevant though.
@kaptainkrisp @Animosity_5E so I found something that actually led to my game working. It works about 50% of the time, but I uninstall the battlefield launcher and reinstall it to a different location. It seems to work a few times then I have the same issue and need to repeat the process. It’s a pain but it’s been making the game work. Hope this helps or someone more technologically advanced can pick up as to why this works!
- KaptainKrisp4 years agoSeasoned Newcomer@EZMarshmall0W So how exactly did you di that? Go to the game folder, delete the BF2042 Launcher, verify files on steam and then let it re-download the launcher?
I had this problem for a while as well. I have the game on Steam and what I had to do was go into the Battlefield 2042's steamapps folder and delete "BF2042Trial" then launch via the "BF2042_launcher" in the same folder. Prior to this I had spent 4+ hours doing the usual troubleshooting leading to nothing and then this worked first try. I don't know if this will work for those with the game on Origin.
