Game will not boot on PC

Initialize game start and it seems to freeze and also locks up the entire PC. Specs on this PC are 100X more adequate for this game so that is not an issue. Have had 1000s of matches on this PC. This problem started this morning. A PC restart did not help.

  • There appears to be quite a few app crashes and memory errors at the very bottom of the DXDiag.txt report.

I'd start with simple things like moving the Battlefield 2042 folder out of Documents to reset all the settings to default. If that doesn't fix it then move the Battlefield 2042 folder back into Documents to restore your game settings.

Try repairing the game in EA app or Steam, depending on where you bought the game from.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia GPU driver.

    Try reinstalling the game.

I notice you have a 13th gen Intel CPU. They're known to have manufacturing defects that can cause them to degrade over time and cause apps to start crashing. I would try everything else, such as reinstalling Windows, before suspecting a faulty CPU but it's something to keep in mind for 13th gen and 14th gen Intel CPUs.

It may be worthwhile checking for recent updates/drivers and if uninstalling/reverting those changes has an effect.

A couple more standard troubleshooting steps:

    1. Run System File Checker to help ensure the integrity of your Windows System files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    2. Perform a clean boot before starting: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 or http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

    Thanks.
