This is actually happening in other games aswell for me. Like Back 4 blood, when alt tab and having a window on top of the game, i can see the game activating HDR, when tabing back, its back to being washed out. This is in Fullscreen and Borderless. In windowed mode its on. Its some compability issues between games and windows 100%.
A easier fix is just to download "Winexp"

And then locate the game (with the game running ofc), go to "Size and position" and set the game a pixel less in height or width, and press "Modify". This will also make HDR work without having to have anything overlayed.
- @FortuNtv This is so crazy we are still dealing with this crap. I will try your idea though. 2042 is the only game this is happening to for me. I wish somebody could figure out a fix.
To me it's happenig only on BF2042 since 4.2.0. and it's frustrating, waiting a solution... Latest monitor FW (AW3423DWF) , latest graphic drivers (RTX3070Ti), Latest windows update (WIN11 x64) and latest BF2042 update (5.1.0) still don't work...
- @Jashim81 Same! I just don’t get it. I plugged in another HDR monitor and it worked perfectly. I had to return that one and now my PG27UQ is making it all dim and grey. Every other game is bright and vivid.
Same for me, I only have this problem with BF2042.
Any other game is working ....

Ok so I know it’s pretty sad we have to “fix” this ourselves but my best solution is my original one but with one cool tip. Run 2042 in windowed mode and have an HDR video loaded up on YouTube (chrome). Just pause the video so u don’t have to hear it. Make the windowed 2042 as full as it can (expand) and change your accent colors to black in the personalization menu. HDR is perfect and no annoying taskbars to bother you. 🤷🏻♂️

Neither is a fix. Your “fix” actually kept causing my monitor to flash on and off with “hdr enabled” text. Idk why.
HDR stopped working for this game. Period. Anyone fix ? No . Dice interrested in this ? No. Bought game at full price. Wish not to do that. In the future, after years of dissapointment i will wait for them to release an actual game that will match to what we use to play as a Battlefield game. No need to re invent the wheel. Just stick to the original plan. Like BF 4 and Bad Company 2 . You know what i mean. Customisable servers, option to vote the map, option to remain the squad leader, to create the server you want, to add to fav, and not the last...the graphics of Battlefield 1 !!!!. No need for hundreds of players. Just quality. Arkangel directive is FUN !....only 24 per team. BF1 is fun !!!...Only 32 per team ....get your people at work and don't use pandemics as an excuse ffs ! We pay for your products. We use to like your products. Do you like to work ?...We work every day. Different work environments. When we get home....we like to relax with a good game. Please take our money for a good game. Thank you !
