Question

I have an issue: I downloaded the game, but when I try to launch it, it redirects me to the EA Play screen. When I try to log into my own account, I get an error saying that another Steam account has already been linked to my EA account and that two accounts cannot be linked at the same time.

I contacted my friend, and they told me that they had unlinked the account. However, when I tried again, I still got the same error saying that the account is still linked. It seems like many other people are experiencing this issue as well.

Could you help me with this problem?

If I'm interpreting the EA help article correctly then once a Steam account is linked to an EA account it's permanent and can never be undone. Meaning your friend's Steam account is probably permanently linked to your EA account forever, and EA will won't allow a different Steam account to be linked to your EA account.

It appears the only way to link a different Steam account is to create a new EA account.

The restrictions are probably to prevent game sharing.

I did find information about creating a new EA account and then moving the game library from an old EA account to a new EA account.

There's no mention if this would allow linking a new Steam account to the new EA account.

Have you tried launching Battlefield 2042 from the EA App instead of the Steam App?
