i5 8th gen vs i5 10th gen

Do you think anyone would get a performance boost from jumping from an 8th gen to 10 gen?

I really don't think there will be much of a difference, apples to apples. But I could be wrong there are complaints of the i5 10400 not running the game very well.

The game really likes 8 psyical cores.

  • @GrizzGolfThere is no IPC (instructions per clock) performance boost on these Intel gens, the tiny performance gains are there due to slightly higher CPU boost clocks and/or faster memory support.

Anyway if you have a K or KF SKU CPU you can easily overclock it by simply upping the multiplier...

So I started off with an i5 8400 which did ok kinda on BF2042. I moved up to an i5 10040 and it really didnt do anything. One of my gamer buddies told me I should run the i7 10700 because BF wouldnt lag or have FPS drops like Im having now because 128 conquest needs 8 cores.

Is he right? Ill buy that i7 tonight if thats the case.

@GrizzGolf its not only cpu, you need to check yopur memory also, at wich Hz it can run , also check if its dual channel ! What brand / part number of mem you got now in your system ? What typ motherboard ? Als important before ya start swapping struff, if its compatible (check QVL ) AT WEBSITE FROM YOUR MOTHERBOARD AT SUPPORT !!!
