Joining friends who are waiting for game to start doesn't work

When I go to connect to friends' games, sometimes I think they are waiting for a game that needs more players to start. What tells me this is that it gives me an error repeatedly for a long time, and the indicated map stays the same.

Instead of queuing me up to the same match they are waiting for, I get an error.

This reminds me of the horrible customer experience I had with previous games when a friend was in line for a full server and I couldn't join their queue. Had to just find the server manually.

Please work on this.
