Ok so slight update:
The most common thing I have noticed is that this happens when you first launch the game after booting your PC.

Unfortunately yes, and @darkmadcat1 is on the money. When the Season splash screen doesn't show up at the start that is usually a good indicator that it is going to happen.
I will say it does appear to be happening a little less frequently from what I remember.

What kind of network setup do you have?
/AticNothing out of the ordinary, all wired and stable connection.
Ill be honest, I dont actually think I have had it happen once in Season 2.....
