Low FPS every time I update NVIDIA drivers, stuck this time...

Title says it all.  Every time I update my drivers I get awful FPS.  Normally 80-120, after update, 15-25 fps.

Usually I can fix it by resetting all graphics to default, uninstalling the previous driver manually, doing a clean install, and then tweaking my settings back to where I want them.  This time I've done that twice and it worked initially, but after shutting the computer down and coming back to it the next day to play 2042 it somehow managed to screw itself up again.  I'm back to getting 15-25 fps.

The only reason I updated the driver (580.88) was to try the BF6 Beta, which I installed but never played as I didn't have time.

Things I've tried:
Clean install after cleanup with DDU

Rolling back to older driver (577.00)

Clearing the cache (drive):\users\(user)\AppData\Local\BattlefieldGame.....\cache\

Resetting BF2042's graphics settings to default

Resetting NVCPL global and game settings to default

The usual disable fullscreen optimizations, run as admin, etc.

    Solved...sorta

Just kept installing a clean install of the newest driver and it seems to have started working again.  Back up to 130fps.  Hopefully it will last.

Edit:  Nope.  I lied.  Booted it back up again today with zero changes and it's back to 15fps.  What the hell...

Seems to be the computer reboot that is causing the issue.  2042 isn't off the hook, for instance the effects of explosions are set to high visually even though I set them to the lowest setting.  So something is overriding the game settings.

Ok tried everything I could think of.  The game is unplayable at 15-20 fps. The only way around it is to reinstall the drivers every single time I reboot and play.  Ridiculous.
