Summarize your bug More than 4 friends playing together is not possible
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to play together with 5 or more friends on the same team on the same server.
What happens when the bug occurs? The players outside the initial social party of 4 is left in the menu, or cannot join the same server as the rest of them.
What should be happening instead? All players should be able to join the same match at the same time, and devided into squads on the same team

At this current time the game does not support being able to play more than 4 friends together on the same team on the same server. Although the squad count being limited to four or five players in previous BF titles, other players/friends could easily join the same server as their friends despite their friends playing in a full squad. Once in the server, friends could easily jump between squads to find a optimal distribution of friends working together in different squads, using Xbox party chat to communicate. This distribution of players in different squads would continue in to the next round once a game ended.

In BF2042 such a solution does not exist. If a fifth player wants to play on the same server as four other friends who are in a full squad, the only solution is the following workaround:

One of the four players who are in game must leave the current social party, create a new social party, and keep changing squads until the player is in a squad that has an available slot. Sometimes their are no such squads, and the player will no be able able to leave the current squad he's in. If this is the case your fifth friend will not be able to join, and you must keep trying to change squads until a teammate leaves the server, and hope that you are able to change to that squad in time to invite your friend. When/if a squad with an available slot is found, the player must invite the fifth player (or vice versa with the fifth player joining).

The player that changed squad and the fifth player are now in the same squad, and playing on the same team as their friends who are in another squad.

When the round end this resets, and the two squads of friends can end up on different servers or on different teams in the same server. When this happens the above process must be repeated. This results in a large amount of time managing squads to be able play together, and involves a lot of waiting in the menu to get invited.

Suggestions that could help this issue:

1. Squad management: Being able to freely change, create and manage squads.

2. Server browser/joining a server: Being able to join a friends server despite them being in a full squad/social party.

3. Server continuation: Staying in the same server, and not being sent back to the main menu after a round.

4. Larger social parties: A social party can consist of up to eight people, and when joining a server the party is divided into two squads.

5. Larger squads: In a server consisting of 128 players, a squad of four has little impact on the outcome of the game. Increasing the squad slots, say up to eight, would allow more friends to play together, but also give a squad more strategic and tactical options in a round.

  • This a very accurate description of an important issue. Please consider increasing the number of squad slots to more that four, so that a squad can have a bigger impact on the game. This would also give an array of tactical and strategic options.

  • @PokyWig Yes, and if not squad size, than larger social party size that automatically divides into squads upon joining servers.
  • Agreed: Players should have the squad system like in previous title. And being able to play more than 4 in same team.

And unnecessary matchmaking between the rounds (BR, CQ) should be stopped, the way how it works in portal based games (Rush,TDM) is better, at least if you get your friends finally to same server, they stay there. Only problem is that they might end up to the different team.

There were discussion before that party size could be added to 8 players, when it will happen?

Also when are we able to create squads and switch squads the same way as in previous games?

In BF1, squad name even changed to Platoon name (which brings me to this question: when platoons will be around?).
