PC - Play for a few minutes, Crashes to Main Screen

Update:

I found after the current update, the game would crash to main screen or not even load (loads the anti cheat and then it would cycle back to the main screen) at all. I found a solution for now.

Solution Steps:

• Update Geforce Drivers to current as of (March 16, 2023)
• Uninstall BF2042
• Uninstall EA App
• Restart PC
• Load cmd > regedit.
• Find all BF2042 > Delete
• Restart PC
• Download EA APP > Install
• Download BF2042 > Install
• Go to directories of EA, BF2042 and Anti cheat directory> right click on the exe files and set run as admin.
• Go to windows 10 > virus and threat protection settings > turn off real time protection (this is for anti cheat to be able to run correctly, this was noted by EA and they stated that they are working with the virus companies. Talk about false positives.)
• Load EA app and play the game.

Conclusion:

Found the the game now plays with no issues (for now 🙂) and there is also reduced packet loss, almost none.

Glad you mentioned this. This actually is the issue which is WEIRD.

I added the EAC file to the exception list in 2042. I’ll report back if I get any issues.

edit: game crashes still but game feels more stable overall.

The real time anti-virus in windows needs to be stopped every time you reset the PC. Also probably good to turn it back on when you are done your session with BF.

I find there is another glitch now. There are times after the game is finished and it shows you all the rewards, it is supposed to cycle back to the main screen to match with another game. Now, there will be a black screen and nothin happens. You need to restart the game.

Why did EA put out a game with so many bugs?!? They should pay the BF community for doing their testing for them.

Battlefield 4, never had issues for me. 

EA, come on pull up your socks, and get these issues fixed. 🙂

Well, hopefully you went the basic steps.

• Update all drivers, including windows.
• Follow the steps above so you have a clean install of EA and BF2042
• Turn off Real time anti-virus monitoring
• Run files in admin
• Try the game in low graphic settings
• I am sure you considered you rig setup and have the minimum hardware needed to play the game.
• Create a dxdiag file which can help others see what type of hardware you have.
• Closing other processes / programs in the background and see if one is conflicting with BF
• Reach out to EA directly, they have phone numbers you can call and see what direction they give you. Also great time to let them know what you have done so far using the log I suggested below.

I would start to keep a log of what you have done so you can be systematic in your step which you have tried and are going to try. Write a game plan.
