The settings etc. are saved in "Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings".
This happens when something on your system changes/removes the files in that folder. Onedrive, Google Drive, certain Windows settings have been known to do this.
What you need to do is figure out what is messing with your gamefiles and getting it to stop. Until you have found that out you can take a backup of your settings folder in case you ever need to restore settings.
@Popa2caps the only thing a chargeback will do is getting your entire account banned so I would advice against that.
