PC Keybind Bug (Commo Rose and Ranger Commands)

Summarize your bug I modified the default PC keybinds pretty heavily as I've been a long-time ESDF user for movement as opposed to WASD. Battlefield 2042 seems to like hardcoding some of those keybinds to certain actions which disrupts my gameplay. These two issues are causing me grief: 1) It appears the default binds for controlling the Ranger robot dog is 'E.' I don't have a way in the menus to reprogram the Ranger orders to a different key. 2) When holding down my bind for the Commo Rose, there's a button you can press (F?) to move to the second page of commands. This is my Strafe Right bind so everytime I go to change to the next page my character also moves to the right. Can this be addressed in a future update?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Update your PC keybinds so you use ESDF for movement instead of WASD. Then, try and switch to the second pages of the Commo Rose menu without moving to the right (assuming F is bound to Strafe Right) Spawn a Ranger and try to issue orders... it shows that the keys to use are "E" (which are Move Forward for me) and there's an order in the middle to follow you but it just shows as "E + E" which makes no sense.
What happens when the bug occurs? The binds are hardcoded and not working correctly
What should be happening instead? I should be able to customize my keybinds for these commands to my liking

  • @Critstopher Have not gotten this bug yet, but I have also not tried controlling a Ranger yet.

I assume this is yet another issue with Hard-Coded keybinds and Linked keybinds for multiple actions. These kinds of problems seem to always crop up at these initial stages.

@Critstopher For me, the issue is that F is my grenade button. Oh joy.

I'm 90% certain that all these actions that are hardcoved to 'F' were actually bound to 'melee' in the alpha and beta.

So, I can't use the 2nd commo rose page without throwing a nade. I can't toggle any of the hybrid sights. I just unlocked the SOFLAM, can't toggle zoom. You already pointed out the Ranger issue.
  • Bumping this for more visibility. This needs to be fixed in a near-future update. Hard-coding actions to specific keys is not the way to go.

I thought this was fixed in update 3 (Season 3) as I was having success ordering Ranger around.  But today, while playing Kaleidoscope Conquest, I ordered the Ranger to a location by holding down Q (my commo rose bind) and then tapping E (my Move Forward bind) which he did successfully.  But then I pressed Q followed by a double-tap of "E" (which should return Ranger to me) and the Ranger started making the self-destruct noises and then it exploded.  So frustrating that I can't reliably use the Ranger commands when using my customized keybinds.
