It can be all kind of issues!
Network, do ya use adsl , broadband or fiber ? Via a VPN maybe ????
Any other devices at same network ?
Some background software running who use network ? Windows update , a torrent downloader ? ect ect
Anti virus busy in the background or optimizing tools ? Streaming software ?
Use a tool to make sure you set CPU cores as reserverd for Game and System to !
Latest system drivers installed ? Latest GPU driver installed ?
Make sure your fans and cool block from CPU / GPU / PSU are clean , so they dont block cooling from your system
(new patch uses CPU a lot more, so more heat <-- could throttle down your cpu or even gpu)
henche everything get hot without a good cooling / airflow !!!!!
With a "low end" cpu you need less resources to run , check for:
POWER PLAN ULTIMATE
How to disable unneeded services
Ingame max FPS settings
Nvidia/AMD gpu windows settings
Bios XMP/DOCP settings !
google for it !
Disconnect all unneeded hardware (only 1 mouse , 1 keyboard, 1 headset should be connected ->>> no game controlles, no usb drives, no cameras , no dac, ect ect ect)
Always try a cleanboot to make sure no other software is running in the background !!! test game with a WIRED connection
Post always a dxdiag so people can check and investigate if there is any issues (old drivers / software issues ect ect ect)
Cheers !
@BertHandsome, thanks for the video! I can indeed see the packet loss. Jeez, it sometimes goes up to the 20%+ packet loss. That is not good.
@Dissidian84, packet loss as well, hmm.
Did this happen to both of you after Season 3 went live and have you never had this issue before?
@BigJackJones, @Sam_The_Bear_xD, @Rockumo, I can indeed see that you suffer from high TN. I have the feeling that this can be related to the CPU constantly at a 100% usage issue, that the teams are investigating. When you have a high TN, have you also ever checked your Task Manager > Performance to check if you can see if your CPU is also constantly at 100% usage?
- BertHandsome3 years agoRising Traveler@EA_Leeuw I’ve always had random bouts of pocket loss because I’m on DSL, but they would only last a second or two. But after Season 3, it is easily replicated by running to a congested part of a map, and it usually lasts until I die or leave (slowly, by lagging 😂) to a different part of the map.

@BertHandsome, so... you always had packet loss because of your connection, because you are playing via DSL you say, but it got worse with Season 3, right? - BertHandsome3 years agoRising Traveler
@EA_LeeuwCorrect. Significantly worse.
Again, I've always dealt with occasional packet loss, but it would only last for a second, not minutes, and never to the extent of not being able to reload or crouch or throw a grenade or having enemies pop in and out of my screen, etc.
Also. As stated in the original post, I have another PC on the same network, and it runs fine without constant packet loss, so while the DSL speed may be a factor, I highly doubt it is the main factor.
I will also add that I do NOT run into the issue at all when playing Solo/Co-Op with bots, even with both PCs playing.
And. The issue isn't nearly as prevalent when playing on smaller game modes such as Rush.Edit: I have attached a copy of DxDiag if that helps.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@BertHandsome season 3 is a heavy one, it realy makes your cpu work !
And in combo with dsl it can give issues. Some got profi by reserving cpu fro system and game (check forum). Also make sure there is nothing else in the background running with network, windows updates , trorren downloader ecxt ect ect. Best way to find out if other software make it a bit harder is by executing a CLEAN BOOT !
then test game again ! - 3 years ago
Hi @EA_Leeuw,
Attached a screenshot for you - I got 85% CPU usage just booting to the game menu, no actual gameplay in progress and no other games or intense applications running, so I would suggest that this linked. I've also included a DxDiag for info.
FYI I also have an open and long-standing ticket where I can only access Sundance's scatter grenade. No idea if this is relevant but thought i'd mention.
Cheers,
Jack

@BigJackJonesHey man, i see Gcloud and battlenet running ! are there any other network processes running (do not see whole taskmanger list) No dxdiag included here !
@Rokebo73 My friend, since before the latest patch I haven't had to have a single concern about background tasks, even installing other games while playing without instability 🙂
If I have to treat my PC as a battlefield-specific bubble for it to run properly (which I don't think will fix the issue, when you look at the numbers) it stops being worth the hassle I'm afraid. We need to focus on fixing the sudden hunger for resources, rather than bending over backwards to accommodate it.

@BigJackJones maybe USER.CFG make some difference, need to be saved in BF2042 installation folder. Just to share CPU workload and game load over the cores from your cpu ! For some people its was an improvement, for others not much or even nothing. But maybe worth to try ?! 😉

Thanks for the tip, but let's see what the devs come back with 🙂 If there's an interim solution posted I'll be happy to give it a go.

Looking at the different DxDiag here and on other topics there is a constant :
many have Asus motherboards... wouldn't the update 3.0 have some compatibility problems with this manufacturer? - Dissidian843 years agoRising Rookie
Ok This is so weird but when I played today there was zero packet loss and the game ran fine (Except for the 100% CPU usage issue). So I have no clue what caused the game to fix the packet loss problem.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@Dissidian84 100% cpu usage got a workaround for it, check forum for USER.CFG
The game will be much smoother graphics/gameplay, it will probarly also solve some network issues.
Cause cpu is to busy with everything in the game so network could suffer from it !!!
Game On! - BertHandsome3 years agoRising Traveler@Rokebo73 I tried this workaround last night. While it helped the packet loss slightly, it also reduced my FPS to below 50, while also keeping CPU usage to around 70-80 percent.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@BertHandsome did try a clean boot?

@BigJackJones, this topic is about packet loss after the Season 3 update, not a CPU issue. It looks like you mention 2 different, unrelated, issues in one post, that you posted in the wrong thread. Please don't do this, as this will mess up the flow of the thread and will make it go off-topic. I would recommend using the search function of the forums to check if there are any existing threads about the issues that you are experiencing.
So far it looks to be quiet in this thread with fewer new reports from people who are experiencing network-related packet loss. I even see some posts mentioning that it has been resolved.
Question; are you now still experiencing packet loss? If so, can you record a video with the in-game network graph enabled and share this video here?
- 3 years ago@EA_Leeuw yes the problem remains, I had a clean install of windows and of the game again yesterday, and the issue remains exactly the same as soon as I can ill upload a video of the game running here with the graphs but that will be later today. the game has been unplayable for me for one week already.

@Sam_The_Bear_xD, cheers for the info. If you manage to capture a video, feel free to share it via YT or Streamable for example. - 3 years ago
@EA_Leeuwhttps://youtu.be/qgthhx-lvSM (by the time you see this, it might still be rendering the HD version of the video on youtube if the quality is bad, it should be 1080p just wait a bit )
sorry for the delay just got home to upload the video,
*So my specs are the following:
ryzen 7 2700x
nvidia 2070
32 gb 3600hz
2.2TB of space (2042 is in a 1tera, m2, alone)
My internet is 300MB
*fresh install of windows 10 latest updates, fresh install of game,
graphics card latest update as well.
*pre-update season 3 90 fps High no issues
pos first update season 3 the same as the video
*not going to mention the cpu, you know there's something going on, on that department.
*The game in the video is actually performing a bit better than normal due to only being 64 players in the server I guess.
the problem persists in co-op mod only with bots.
*The game slows down a lot to the point the smg's looks like a single shot gun. Rubber banding is present and consistent.
* I did install Battlefield 1 on the HDD drive to test if it was a pc problem or a game problem, it runs normally with no issues on that game with fps/hardware usage/ server.
*Please let me know if you need more footage ill gladly submit it for you to analyze. - BertHandsome3 years agoRising Traveler
Honestly, I haven't tried for awhile because the support that has been given thus far has not fixed the issue, and I haven't heard any updates from DICE as to if a fix has been implemented, so I never bothered trying.
I can boot it up soon and share whether or not it has been resolved.

Hey @Sam_The_Bear_xD,
Thanks for the video.
Luckily it looks like you don't suffer from the packet loss issue, but it kinda looks like your issue could be related to the CPU issue that is being investigated as well. TN is related to the processing of the gameplay. - 3 years ago
Hi @EA_Leeuw, i was answering your question about the CPU usage, not intending to mess up the thread.
I am still having playability issues. I would say it's marginally better, but that is possibly because I was playing a smaller map (TDM). It's still an issue.
I recorded a new video for you today: https://youtu.be/qGzUQXYe41s
For a particularly bad spike, see when the timer in the top left is at about 02:50.
Can you confirm that the tech team are investigating?
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
This could help some of you for more/better performance
Its about the User.cfg , about save location and edit instructions.
try it and see if it is any good for you:

@BigJackJones, thanks, I see it now.
Could you mention the timestamp of the video where you think you saw a big packet loss spike? I haven't been able to spot it so far, everything looks to be okay judging by the video. I am also unable to spot a high TN, for example.
