[PC][Steam] Error 10011 - (Failed to start the game (2))

@EA_Leeuw Just moved the game back to C: and it worked fine. However, even when the game is on C: it behaves strangely.

For example, I have AIDA64 running in the background to monitor my system. Whenever BF42 launches, it stops updating all the counters (CPU, GPU temp etc.) when I quit the game sometimes it starts working again sometimes it remains frozen. If it's frozen after a few minutes the whole Windows crashes and I have to restart. 

I've reinstalled the entire BF42 at least 3 times so far on both drivers X: and C: It mostly works when installed on C: almost never works from X: 

When I move the gathe me around I get id_pc_corrupt_save_body error. When I get this, I have to delete the BF2042 profile from my documents and have to go through the entire "intro" of the game and set up my keybinds etc.

@aelthain, cheers for the info, but I would like to go back to the main issue of this topic: the EAC "Failed to start the game ( 2 )" error. 🙂

Will you maybe be able to give it a few more tries during the day and maybe tomorrow, to see if the situation changes and if error returns or not? I would really appreciate it.

Sure, moved the game back to X: and this is what I got. At least when I get this the game actually exits gracefully and I don't have to restart Windows.

Yes, the issue showed up on 12th of July as I've started the game around 8 PM EEST. I have played the game in the same day during the morning and it worked just fine.

As stated, out of the blue, I get EAC errors.

The behavior spotted is as follows:
- I run the game via STEAM
- Origin starts and then disappears as usual now that it's running
- EAC shows up loading the blue bar to the end.
- PC freezes ~1 second after the bar gets to the very ended (fully loaded)
- EAC screen stays there for ~15 seconds and I get the generic error that the it failed launching the game with error code 10011 and if I close that the EAC screen shows the message "Failed to start the game 🏈"

As mentioned I've tried the options above and also moving the game files but I'm pretty sure that won't fix the EAC problem ^^

I will try right now to simply delete everything (all games and game launchers) on my pc and reinstall steam + origin with the games I still do play just to make sure there is nothing wrong in anything that involves game/game launchers

If anything else is left for me to try or more info is needed from my side please let me know as I will be providing everything within my powers.

*Edit - If I try to run the game from the game files using BF2042.exe launcher or the other one via EAC, it still fails and freezes my PC (steam, file explorer, task manager). After getting rid of the freezes, my pc starts running slow with random stutters or longer loading times for different actions until I restart my PC.

*Update*

I have reinstalled everything as mentioned above with no success.
Tomorrow I will go as far as reinstalling my windows and wiping everything from my drives to start from a complete 0 before I can take into consideration even hardware problems that appeared out of nowhere (would be weird as anything else works perfectly) (I'm playing around 9-10 other games with no issues)

I think it should be worth a try to check games that use EAC to see if those can be launched (for example fall guys). Will give it a try and be back with an update.

*Update #2*

I have tried launching Fallguys and I get the same error and same behavior. I'm pretty sure that even if I fully clean my pc I won't get anywhere but I'm surprised to be the only one or between the few affected out of the blue.

As I spoke with a few other people and friends they suggested that the problem is on the EAC side even if I'm the only one affected from the group. I have sent them a support ticket but the wait time is pretty long until I get a sign from them. All I can hope for is a new update/patch from EAC for their service and be lucky to get back into the game. Until then I will sadly have to accept that I can't play the game until it simply works again xD...

Hey @samyhd , please read the rest of this thread. You're by no means the only one. Just pick any random game that uses EAC and google for that game's name + EAC error 10110. You'll see plenty of people who are having the same issue. I'm pretty sure a lot more people are thinking this is a hardware error and they aren't even looking for a solution in forums. 

Again, please try moving the game to a different drive. If possible the same drive where you have your Windows installed. I know this sounds unlikely but I can literally reproduce the error 10110 with 100% accuracy by moving the game away from the disk that contains EAC's executable(i.e where the Program Files is. 

@aelthain, @samyhd I would like to request to stop continuously moving the game from drive A to drive B etc. This can cause issues as well if you continuously move files around, especially if you don't repair the files afterwards or perform a clean install of the game on the other drive. The most important thing right now is that we're trying to figure out if the main issue has solved itself when the game and either Steam, Origin, EA app etc. is installed on the same drive (Windows drive), as this seems to be the root cause of the issue; that the game and launcher are installed on different drives.

So for you, @samyhd, I would also recommend installing the game on the same drive as where you have your launcher installed on (the Windows drive is most common), and see if this also solves the issue for you.

What I would also like to point out is that if you own multiple copies of the same game, via Steam and via Origin/EA app, for example, it's best to install only one copy.
