Performance - CPU at 100% constantly - i7 9700k
Hey all,
I decided to give the game another shot after a few years away, but I’m running into some serious issues with my CPU running at 100% constantly and getting severe stuttering.
Despite having a system that’s well above the recommended specs (i7 9700K and an RTX 4070), the game is almost unplayable due to heavy stuttering.
Here’s a quick breakdown of my setup:
- CPU: Intel Core i7 9700K
- GPU: Nvidia RTX 4070
- RAM: 16GB DDR4
- Storage: SSD
- OS: Windows 10
I know there are plenty of discussions about CPU bottlenecks with older Intel chips, but honestly, my system runs fine with pretty much every other game so, while I understand the i7 9700K might be a limiting factor in some cases, I still feel like my system should handle BF2042 decently.
I’ve tried limiting cores and threads in the config, adjusting graphics settings (even lowering everything to medium and high), disabling certain background processes, and updating drivers, but nothing seems to make a significant difference.
From what I’ve read, a lot of players are saying the only way to get decent performance in Battlefield 2042 is to upgrade the CPU, but I really don’t want to spend money on a new system for a single game. My 9700k is still solid for everything else, and frankly, I don't know how I feel about future titles if the game isn't going to be optimized properly.
Has anyone else here had similar issues or found a way around these 100% CPU and stuttering problems on a system like mine? Is there something in the settings or some workaround I might have missed?
