Running on a 5800x here, cpu utilization is fine, and performance is good.
Turning off SMT on his 3600 will make it bottleneck even more.
I suspect he has not enough ram as well.
My friend with his 8600k 6c/6threads, 16gb ram, and 980ti manages to have smooth gameplay (65-75 fps) on medium at 1080p
but cpu utilization is almost at 90%.
If you want to hit constant 60fps in this game you ll need a 6c/12 thread cpu, and 16gb of ram...less than that it s just wishful thinking.
Minimum requirement for a game will make you get 30-60fps, you should always aim for recommended specs if you want a decent gaming experience.

I've got a 6 core CPU, 32GB Ram and a 1080ti I can't get more than 50-70fps on all Low settings. It looks and feels awful to play. I'm well above the minimum specs and it isn't even guaranteeing my a solid 60fps+
I can play 144fps in Warzone with settings mixed between high/medium.
Who actually plays FPS games these days with under 120fps? But you have to understand the build used in the Open Beta was 8 months old
Oh wait. we are not in the Open Beta anymore...
Tried 2 systems. Both using a ryzen cpu. Massiv stuttering makes the game unplayable. This issues exist since the beta. Didnt get any better with the early access release yesterday.
GPU is deliverying constant 90-100 FPS. But CPU is a desaster. Jumps from 20-70 fps in milliseconds. causing massiv stuttering.
My System PC:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
- GPU: RTX 3080 TI
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3600
- Mainboard: Asus Prime X570-Pro
Laptop:
ASUS Zephyrus G15 with Ryzen 4800HS.Needlessly to say, but all drivers are current. Even bios itself.
What i already tried:
- changing all settings (resolution, details etc. - which has no effect at all)
- Deactivate SMT in UEFI
- Using only 8 cpu cores
- highest priority to task bf2042.exe (no background processes are running)
- changing settings in windows firewall
- changing CFG settings in windows security (what some people on reddit recommend)
So, in conclusion. Ryzen CPUs seem to be a problem.
When will this be fixed?
- @VirtualSelf2049 That is bad. A 2060 is a very expensive and powerful GPU. Even in a laptop.
- @Dogg-eXoDus Thank you!!!!!
People were abusing me on reddit that, "Your card is bare minimum, 1650 is trash, what do you expect"
But even minimum spec means I should be able to run the game smoothly at some settings. Even at everything low, the game stutters like crazy. Doesn't matter the settings.
And a 1080ti is a beast! Getting 50-70fps on that machine is crazy. This game is incomplete and honestly worse performing. My cpu is around 50-60 percent. Gpu sits around 50-60 percent as well. 1080p 144hz.
- @TheFireOfTitan. If you take a look around on forum it seems mostly to be people running on AMD CPUs having problems. And the people who claim to not have problems do, because with their setups they should be running 120fps+, which they are not. Most people on BEASTLY setups run 70-100. And changing from Ultra to Low seems to not change anything on most setups either
Why am I getting major performance issues on a top-spec PC? Even if I reduce the graphics quality settings, I get little to no improvement. Really, with the PC I have, I should be able to play this game at maximum graphics. I have no issues with any other recently released games, I can play pretty much any game at top graphics settings and get 100+ FPS even with Ray-Tracing enabled! It's just Battlefield 2042! It is terrible! Really bad laggy graphics, poor response from input controls, lagged mouse input, glitchy graphics, it really is terrible. Why release a game in such a poor state?
For Info, my PC is:
64Gb DDR-4 4000Mhz
4.6Ghz Intel i9 Extreme Edition 14-Core CPU (Watercooled)
ASUS Rampage VI Omega Extreme Motherboard
8TB NVME SSD's Samsung 970 PRO's
ASUS Strix NVidia RTX 3090 GPU
Windows 11 Enterprise
Trying to run at 4K on 4K Ultra-Wide Monitor. Even at Low or Medium Settings, Ray-Tracing Disabled. Average 20 FPS. And to top that off, the mouse latency/lag issues. My Mouse and Steelseries Apex Pro Keyboard and Steelseries Rival 650 Mouse (using cable).
Surely with a PC that cost over £8K to build should run this game at near maximum graphics? I've even tried overclocking my GPU to 2020Mhz and GPU Memory to 19612Mhz (which is a perfectly stable overclock for all other games). Nothing I try seems to resolve these performance issues. Not sure what else I can try.
I've tried disabling:
Origin Overlay
Windows Gaming Bar Overlay
NVidia Overlay
Disabled all screen capturing software and instant replay features. Attempted playing with all unnecessary services and applications stopped. I give up.
