PS4 Controller on PC: Either constant "aim down" or random "aim up"

Product: Battlefield 2042
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number Nvidia RTX3070
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer
Which part of the mode? Conquest
Please select your region Europe
On which server did this happen? All
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 12.11.21-13.11.21
Summarize your bug With Steam Controller input disabled: Controller produces a constant "look/aim down" signal. This causes you to look to the ground after spawn without any way to prevent it. Other key binds are also all over the place. When trying to set keybinds, only "look down" is registered form the controller, no matter what button is pushed. With Steam Controller input enabled: Aim randomly snaps straight up. Happens in irregular intervals. Sometimes not at all for 30s, then 3 times within 5s. Controls are overall rather sluggish. Could be avoided during beta by disabling steam input.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launch game via steam and use PS4 controller. Disable Steam controller input and either start a multiplayer game to stare at the ground or try to set new keybinds for the controller, to only get "look down". Launch game via steam and use PS4 controller. Have steam input enabled. Start a multiplayer game and try to play for 5min.
What happens when the bug occurs? Aim is stuck to ground. Renders the game unplayable. OR. Aim snaps randomly upwards in random intervals, causing disorientation and unfair fire fights.
What should be happening instead? Aim should be controlled by the right stick

Videos don´t upload, so here is a link for the random upwards snaps: https://streamable.com/k4p2tg

Did not include a video for the aim-stuck-to-ground bug. Would just be me looking at the ground.

  • Best workaround I got so far:

    Steam: Enable Default Controller Settings

Game Settings (Mouse/Keyboard): Disable Mouse Raw Input

While the inputs don´t feel as smooth as in the beta with all steam input disabled, at least the up/down snaps are gone, and the aim is not stuck to the ground

  • I am using a PS5 and PS4 controller on a next gen PC. I bought Battlefield 2042 through Steam and I have Origin on steam as a non-steam game. There are thousands more people that have the constant "aim up" issue on PC that have not reported it on this forum. There are a lot of youtube vids out there about work arounds and I have tried them all. I have narrowed it down to one thing. The "Mouse Raw Input" setting need to be turned off , but once you do, the in game settings are not saving. I will change  mouse raw input to "off" before starting a game and the mouse raw input changes back to "on" mid game. Very frustrating when you are about to shoot at an enemy and you are suddenly looking up in the air!

The same thing happens when I change my display setting for the monitor I want to play on. It simply will not save the changes. The difference is, with the display settings, it allows you to "apply " the settings, but they do not save when you exit battlefield 2042. The mouse and keyboard settings do not give you the option to "apply" the settings.

    See attached screen captures.

I turn off mouse raw input while in a game as Im spawning in and it last for that match. at the beginning of every match you'll have to turn it off again. not sure if turning it off at the menu works as good as in game. For the snap to ground/air bug

  • Sometimes changing the mouse raw input lasts for the entire match for me, but if I get killed, then it switches back sometimes. I hope they fix this soon.

  • @Bonjur250 Yep this works for me and I'm using an Xbox Controller. Thanks for the fix, man! Crazy how this is still an issue
