Re: BF 2042 not launching after the splash screen

Thanks for the DXDIAG report and steps you've taken.

It looks like you need to disable your on-board graphics (in BIOS).

  • Thanks for that but unfortunately it did not work. The situation now is that every time after I attempt to launch the game, it fails, and when I check the file integrity, it tells me that there are 3 files missing. However, even having the 3 missing files reacquired wouldn't help. After another attempt and check again, the files are still missing. It seems like the files are auto deleted somehow.

"check the file integrity" - What are you using for this? In which folder do you believe files are missing?

Please attach a new DXDIAG report.

  • @DarthFDG  As for the file checking part, I was using the steam "check file integrity" function so I can't tell which files are missing and which exact folder they are at.

And @DMGG1994, as for your post, I appreciate your kind help but the overall exploit protection (CFG) of my laptop is already off and I have 16G RAM plus 16384MB virtual memory set, so that post didn't really help.
I don't have my laptop by my side right now, so I'll have the DXDIAG.txt uploaded sometime tomorrow. Thanks.

I don't know much about your particularly brand of laptop, so the specifics may vary a bit. Nonetheless...

Your DXDIAG report suggests you are trying to play with the built-in display, which will very likely use the on-board graphics. This will not work. The game needs to leverage your 3050 Ti to work. So, you need to figure out how to achieve this with your particular brand of laptop. I would expect that disabling on-board graphics and/or connecting and external display would do it. Key point is you need to ensure your laptop is using the 3050 Ti to run the game.

  • It's getting really weird now, I did disable the on-board graphics in BIOS as you told me, but the new dxdiag showed me that "There is a problem with Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics device. For more information, search for 'graphics device driver error code 22". Also, that didn't make the game able to launch.

I checked the graphic card settings. It tells me that for all the games I have they would use the 3050Ti as top priority.

Maybe it's some other problems, maybe the auto-deleted files, I think.

You can check the new dxdiag after I disabled the on-board graphics here.

That error code suggests that the Iris graphics needs to stay enabled.

Also, the DXDIAG report suggests the external monitor is running thru the Iris graphics, not the 3050 Ti.

You need to contact your laptop/motherboard manufacturer to determine how to ensure you're using the 3050 Ti.

  • same for me its not launching that splash screen. Is there really a way to sort it out.
