Re: Crash to desktop - Access Violation

Hey @VSE-Imperator,

The Access Violation often means that the game doesn't get enough power / the PC doesn't get enough power to run the game at its current settings.

Is it possible that you have overclocked your PC recently and/or underclocked something or adjusted the voltage the components may use?

  • I've tried the game with overclocking, underclocking, stock speeds etc, but I can't see any big changes regarding the crashes with such changes. I have a 1200W PSU so there should be enough power. I also don't have this problem with other games, It's only BF2042.

Though, yesterday I installed latest Nvidia drivers again, reinstalled the game and installed some other C++ redist versions and it haven't crashed much now. I hope I'm back to the point where I at least can play for a good while before it crashes. I guess I have to reinstall things again when a new patch arrives.. Do you think the C++ redist versions can be somewhat related to the problem? I don't know if the dxdiag or crash dump file I've attached give you any information about where the problem may lie?

  • Mine was hard crashing also, yesterday was bad.

reading here about overheating and cpu.  running an I9-9900KF, 8 core/16 proc.  Lowered it to 4 core/8 proc and game appears to be running fine.

@VSE-Imperator, thanks for the extra details.

Glad to read that you didn't crash after you have performed those steps.

Small question; are you running a RTX 4090 SLI setup?
  • I'm running a single RTX 4090, but as mentioned in the first post, the problems started when I had a RTX 3080.

@VSE-Imperator, I get you. The reason I asked that question was that your DxDiag shows 2x a RTX 4090, as 2 separate display devices, hence it looked like an SLI setup.

How exactly have you installed the game? Is this on a separate drive or the same drive as your OS?

Also, just to double check; you aren't experiencing these issues anymore currently after you had performed those steps?
  • The game is installed on a separate ssd.

Actually I have not had any crashes after those steps, to my BIG surprise. These are the same things as I have done earlier, and the issue has never been completely gone, so I presume I will get the crashes sometimes, but it's good for now so I guess we don't need to look further into it for the moment.

@VSE-Imperator, gotcha. Alright, in that case, feel free to update this thread if you ever get the same error again!

    Hey @Flakstar,

You had the same issue and you fixed it by installing this version of .NET?
