Re: directx error device hung

btw i see you have a 12th gen do you have the legacy game option in the bios ? it could be you need to dl a newer bios with Legacy Game Compatibility Mode

If you’re having issues with these games, Alder Lake owners can enable Legacy Game Compatibility Mode (where available) in their PC’s BIOS, which will place the E-cores in a standby mode while playing games. Alternatively, Gigabyte Z690 board owners can download a tool that allows them to switch the E-cores on and off easily through the utility's UI. others  with z690 mobo or alder lake mobo can dl a newer  bios with Legacy Game Compatibility Mode added

Here’s how to enable Legacy Game Compatibility mode:

1. Power-up system and enter system BIOS setup.

2. Switch Legacy Game Compatibility Mode to ON (one-time only) in BIOS.

3. Save BIOS setup changes and exit.

4. Boot to OS.

5. Toggle Keyboard Scroll Lock key ON.

6. Launch affected game title.

7. Toggle Keyboard Scroll Lock key OFF after ending game title.

@Famter-sun yeah look for a newer bios   having legacy game compability and  do the scroll lock trick its worked for a lot of people with 12th gen intel cpu  aka alder lake  the crashes  have to do with system structure  and drm that why they  put the  legacy game compability in those  newer bioses  check brands  support   page for the bios probably need to update it  first

The legacy game mode did not slove it , But you notice me to check the motherboard bios update (asrock z690 pg4) , one of it said (Improve Memory compatibility) ,Then it could be the ram stable problem. So, I just add 0.02v to my ram voltage(with xmp setting) and I think it is fixed ! I played 3 hours tonight without any crash :D.

There is a whole other thread regarding this issue. (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/DirextX-function-quot-GetDeviceRemovedReason-quot-failed-with/m-p/10953672#M1639)

Its NOT your hardware, there is just an ongoing issue where it will randomly crash, its a placebo effect where something has changed and its gone away (for now), but it will be back.

Legacy won't help you with this, its nothing to do with P/E core issues on Alder Lake, its the engine having a funny time.

You can underclock, reduce power limit as much as you like on GPU, it will eventually crash again, out of the blue.

Its possible but unlikely it was a memory issue with the bios update, if you had no issues with it before, unlikely that is what has solved it (unless you were having issues or running odd memory config / DDR5 issues)
