If you have XMP enabled in BIOS try turning it off to see if memory is unstable. DO you have the latest MB BIOS?

  • @sk1lld I haven't tried in a while, but last when I had XMP enabled, the system was overall not stable. I was using the default XMP profiles.

    @iElessar

Sounds like ether the BIOS or memory is unstable. I would suggest a memory test program to check if one of the memory modules are defective.

Is the memory on the MB list of recommended sticks?

I will do a mem test shorty. The exact model is listed under the motherboard's page.

    CORSAIRCMT32GX5M2X6200C36(Ver 5.43.13)2x 16GBXMP62006200SSSK Hynix36-39-39-761.3

    1,2

I have the latest BIOS updated.

@iElessar Jo, sorry for late response !
there is a new bios update for youre system.
    https://rog.asus.com/nl/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-z790-extreme-model/helpdesk_bios/

    DONT FORGET:
“Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 16.1.25.2124 to ensure optimized system settings.”

Update youre firmware and then bios, now do a clearcmos .
Test youre game, if there is still a problem , read below.

Youre memory seems to be supported , i see you got a 2 sets of 2x16gb CMT32GX5M2X6200C36
Did ya try to use only memory modules in bank A2 and B2 , so ya got 32gb installed ?
Test game with only 2 memory modules installed.

I did read ya got issues if ya XMP the memory.
Its possible 1 of the memory modules if faulty/broken
If test with 2 memory modules is till an issue , then test each memory apart from each other.
Use only 1 memory module each time and test game.

    Update us please !
  • @Rokebo73 I guess it is a new BIOS update. The english page of the motherboard still shows the older version. I am updating the BIOS now. ME update already done.

    I have 4 sticks of RAM - total 64gb.

    Will keep you posted.

@iElessar did ya test with just only 1 ram stick each time ?
So there is only 16gb memory installed ?
Use bank number a1 or a2 to test game , with just 1 ram stick

    cheers
  • I have done the following:

    • Clean OS installation
    • BIOS update

I did do a test with 1 RAM stick, in each slot. See the table for the results:

So first of all, thank you for the suggestion. By looking at the result of the test, note the following:

    1. One RAM stick could be faulty -
    2. I tried 2 sticks of RAM in A1/B1 - Battlefield had graphical issues, similar to what I had before.
    3. One RAM stick works perfectly fine - all games work (most cases games ran on the first try properly)
    4. 2 or more RAM sticks together is causing the issue apparently. Looking at the table, I'd say the best combo is A1/B1. Yet, all sticks had at least one minor issue where I had to try again with the game.

I did not do a BIOS reset yet. XMP is disabled. But at least now, I can play properly (played for 2 hours + on a single stick of RAM with no issues at all).

Now I need to verify which pair of RAM is causing the issue. Or to be safe, get a new pair.

I also checked that these 2 pairs are identical in terms of speed, voltage, etc.

Finally, I did a MemTest for more than an hour yesterday, no errors were found.

@iElessar  Dont buy 2 sets (batches) , it should be one package with just 1 , or 2 , or 4 ram sticks in it.
Ram sticks in 2 different packages could be differemt build batches , even if it is the same partnumber!

if ya use just 1 ram stick , then it should be in bank A1 <-- use only one stick and test game, stick ok, get it out and try other one

if ya use 2 sticks, then ya use bank A2 and B2 <-- is for dual channel , better / more performance , check manual.

If ya buy new ram sticks i would buy 1 set - (same batch check google for it) - of 2 sticks of 32gb = total 64gb) and set them at bank A2 and B2

Keep us up to date , cheers

ps dont test sticks with onboard or 3rd party app/software.
Very often this app/software doesnt show any error, just test it while playing bf2042

Also if there are issues with enabling XMP then there is a memory or cpu issue or compatibiliteit ! some time bios - outdated for example or bugged)

  • @Rokebo73 Everything is working perfect now. Thank you for your suggestion and constant support. I am happy now.

@iElessar Thats good to know 🙂
If ya gonna upgrade memroy to 1 set , 2x 32gb then make sure its in QVL of motherboard/cpu and set in bank A2 and B2.

Game On ! Have Fun !!!
