Re: DirextX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

I finally figured out how to get rid of the error. Some other people in this thread suggested disabling XMP so I disabled DOCP in the BIOS. No more crashing. I played a few games with bots and online without any problems. Before I couldn’t get through a single game without a crash.

So try disabling XMP or DOCP.

That is one option but sadly not a fix.

And yes, if it helps people to play 2042 then go right ahead. Personally i'm not willing to disable XMP just for 2042.

So I have found that by underclocking my GPU or at least lowering the clock has drastically reduced the crashes.  I was able to play today for over an hour with no crashes at medium gfx  settings.

I am elated and over the moon, because I can safely say that I found a solution. Managed to play 14 games across last night and today, without any crashes. It is done. I get bad fps instead, but not so bad I cant play. All it took was underclocking the ram(-220), the GPU(-250), limiting power to 85%, and overvolting GPU by 20. Running on a GTX 2070, used EVGA precision X1 software. I can finally play, after trying a million different things. I hope someone else finds this works for them too.

  • @Piksved Butchering your own machine is not a fix. Besides, these workarounds don't work for me unfortunately.

  • Question,
Is there any response from DEV ? Regarding these issues, crashing with error message or without ?
Ive seen alot of, Try install latest Nvidia driver and reboot your computer, "Help"
other then that has there been any real assistance?

  • @AKKE47 They seem to be rapidly merging all the threads about this issue so that either means its getting looked into, or that it's getting buried.
  • So after a lot of trial and error, I seem to be able to trigger my game to crash, I spent all day playing with no crashes, simply by avoiding being the the air much. I spent a lot of time flying heli's and started to realise my game would often crash when I was dipping my nose down towards to ground and gathering speed, that's when it would hang. Same thing can happen if I'm parachuting too quickly or flying with sundance, mine seems to be linked to air acceleration somehow. Now I do still get a crash loading a solo match and it hangs at the spawn screen depending on the map, but then I can join a multiplayer one on the same map and its fine. Not really helpful to most people in here I know, but just trying to give devs some idea of what to look at, as for the first time, I seem to be able to replicate it.

@rodrikes I didn't butcher my machine, please dont imply that I am breaking anything, when I am not. Obviously I am not satisfied with the game performing so badly, and this is not a good way to go about this problem, but I did not butcher anything. Sorry it doesnt work for you.

  • @PiksvedI disagree. It's like installing a physical speed limiter to your car because the road is too bumpy to get to max speed. Fix the road, not the car.

Sure it works and I'm happy that its at least playable for you specifically but it is not a fix, it's a workaround.

  • @EA_Blueberry can I ask, do you know if things are being done in the background without a patch to try and fix this? Because yesterday I went the entire day without crashing by playing on conquest only and staying out of heli's. Today I have tried joining 3 different games and every time I have a crash after about 5 minutes regardless of what I am doing. How can it be this different from day to day, it makes no sense.I have to be honest, in 15 years of PC gaming I have never encountered something this badly broken, that the crash can happen one day and not the next. More importantly I am seriously concerned that this is damaging my hardware, we saw it happen with New World. I think my time playing this game is over until this problem is resolved. And that is a sad bloody sentence considering this is the only game I wanted to play this year.

  • Well I got the game to launch finally, I rolled back my drivers to previous version and its been fine so far. Weird

@Insomniax77 Which make (Nvidia/AMD) and which version exactly? Asking as I'm on one of the Nvidia hotfix versions mentioned in an earlier post currently.
  • Same problem, my game crash every 3Omn with this message. I cant play a full round and i lost all my xp.

    GG EA for your Games.

  • @Zehheal I have a geforce 1070, the previous driver was the one before they released the most current driver. The previous driver is
496.49 which is the one I am on. The current driver that they released last week is 496.76 which wouldn't allow me to launch the game for 4 days.
