Re: Gameplay Performance with EVGA RTX 3080 FTW 3 Ultra GPU

Hi, running into the same issues. 3080 FTW and getting 40 FPS. Really, REALLY annoying...

Did you found a solution?

thanks!

    My Son has a RTX 3080 TUF and has no problems at 2560 x 1440 at 120 FPS...  I have the 3090 TI and get 145-155 FPS at 3440 x 1440

    40FPS is way too low means you have another issue than the OP

    Boith setups run identical graphic settings, maybe give them a spin

    Which Windows version, GPU drivers, multiple monitors or other devices besides mouse and keyboard attached?

    @ATCleeghoofd Battlefield 2042 like CPU powers more then GPU. What Cpu do you have? Also when playing is CPU maxxing out?

    @EA_AticKiddo has a 9900K in the setup with a 3080, my setup is a 11900K with a 3090Ti,

    Both CPUs have SMT (or Hyperthreading) disabled and a manual overclock of 4800Mhz for all cores.

    DDR4 memory has been boosted to 4000MHz from XMP 3600MHz clocks

    CPU's run at 95%ish during the game, +/- 65°C cooled by a Noctua DH15

    if you increase the graphics settings it should reduce usage on the CPU, Why is Hyperthreading disabled? @ATCleeghoofd

    @EA_Atic
    - I didn't see a performance increase with it enabled, they are not real cores anyway... 8 cores is plenty and the higher they can clock, the better the game runs
    - The CPU runs higher frequencies with less required voltages (+200MHz with HT off at 1.2Vcore)
    - The CPU runs cooler

    Suggesting high detail settings is nice, but users need to look for a compromise between the monitor resolution, its refresh rate, (many run 144 or 165Hz monitors) and the performance of their GPU and subsystem.

    An RTX 3080 will not do 165fps on HIGH preset at 2560x1440, my RTX 3090 had a rough time to do steady 145fps. 110-120FPS are possible, so the OP should adjust his targets

    Anyway the above settings are rock solid on my son's and my setup... no stuttering, no lag , just solid game play.

    Wishing this is soon for everybody and that the new patch addresses the high CPU load... that will  take at least some pressure away regarding the complaining.

    But it will not fix it for everybody. There are way too many badly configured setups out there, Too much hardware/software which is not always fully compatible.

    And BF2042 is really taxing on hardware and the stability of the chosen components.

    Fingers crossed for next week...

    @EA_Atic I don't see any performance improvement nor detoriation on my setup.
    The CPU load is still at the same levels as before (95-98% via RealTemp logging)
    Now it didn't have any impact on my gaming rig with the previous patch, so also not with this release...
