Could you please share which monitor you play the game on?
Does your setup contain more than 1 monitor and are they all HDR or just a single one? - @BattlefieldDICEr I have the same issue. Everything is over exposed looking grey. Alienware AW3423DWF OLED
Make: LG
Model: 32GP83B-B.AUS
Single monitor setup.
I run full screen exclusive. I've also tried windowed / borderless window, etc no go.
Also, not to get sidetracked, but I believe may be related....
I bought the game on Steam. However, since the Origin App changed to the "EA" app - launching the game has been a tedious and random process. It often takes multiple times to get the game to launch - and when it does launch, it's always in a window and I have to click it to make it full screen.
I've spoken with several of my friends on PC that bought it on Steam and this has been their experience as well.
- Something is completely wrong now.
Before, in HDR calibration i had to set the cursor almost full left side (Odyssey G7 HDR600) now i have to set it completely the opposite and the results are horrible.
Won't play anymore before a fix.
When you'r at it, update DLSS too please or make us able to swap files ourself - BattlefieldDICE3 years ago

@JRizzo67 if you have not done this already, can you check if your monitor has a recent firmware update and see if updating to that one changes anything in-game?
I was speaking to another user with the same monitor (Alienware OLED AW3423DWF) where they had similar overexposed image and they reported that the latest firmware of the monitor fixed the problem. So I am curious if that is the case for others too. - @BattlefieldDICEr Hey guys I will check but I think this may be more then just battlefield. I have found a work around via a reddit chain. It's pretty much turning off HDR in windows starting the game then using key functions to turn back on and it fixes it. Some people are saying it's also in Jedi - https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/12yvkag/update_420_hdr_stopped_working_pc/jhwg6wg?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
- @JRizzo67 Thanks, that really works.
There is no fix on that thread.
- @k1DBLITZ ha let me rephrase. Temp workaround
- @BattlefieldDICEr The firmware does not resolve the issue with BF2042.. it is a BF2042 issue after the patch. However, there is a 1.04 firmware coming out for the monitor at the end of the month (see subreddit for ultrawide monitors)
There is no workaround in that thread either. A workaround is something that allows you to achieve the same end result, albeit a different path. What are you classifying as a "workaround"?
There is no "workaround" to enabling HDR in that thread.
HDR stopped working when 4.2.0 was released.
- @k1DBLITZ this allowed me to get HDR working. This was in the reddit post. It seems it works for some and not for others. It seems people have had mixed results. This allowed me get HDR on and not greyed out.
-----------------
Same issue here, and it happened to all games in the EA APP.
Funny thing was that I was playing 2042 hours before the 2042 4.2.0 update and everything was fine.
Then the 2042 4.2.0 update came out (also it looked like EA App was updated as well), and HDR was broken.

The workaround for 2042 that I found was:
1. launch the game
2. Alt+Tab switch out to other windows
3. disable HDR in windows settings-display
4. Alt+Tab switch back to 2042 (must fullscreen)
5. Win+Alt+B to enable HDR
And voila, HDR will be back to normal.

Mind that if you switch to other windows, or tweak the HDR toggle in 2042, the problem will be back. Then you'll have to redo 2-5 to make it works again.

For other games, I still haven't figure out the way to make HDR works properly.
I would believe that it's an issue related to EA App - BattlefieldDICE3 years ago

For those observing the problem in-game, do you have DLSS enabled?
@BattlefieldDICErI had my DSLL off but turning it on or off has no effect. HDR still broken.
No; I am using an AMD card - so no DLSS.
@k1DBLITZGood to know both NVIDIA and AMD is experiencing the issue.
A new patch is releasing next week but no notes of an HDR fix.https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/138svt2/battlefield_2042_update_421/
Just reporting in that I’ve got the same issue. Everything is over exposed. Really can’t see player names anymore. At least friendlies when the backdrop is the sky or something bright. Flashpoint is way over exposed. Please fix.
@BattlefieldDICEr Has this been reported to the devs? Or someone with authority to fix the problem?
We are beginning to get extremely frustrated. Like others have stated, I stopped playing Battlefield completely after 4.2.0 came out because the colors are so bad.
Your troubleshooting method does not inspire confidence.
It's been almost 2 weeks since the game has been broken, and so far your suggestions have been to:
- Update monitor firmware
- Turn DLSS off
Neither of these are related to the problem, and I am sincerely curious how you arrived at these suggestions.
Here are the facts:
- HDR stopped working immediately after the 4.2.0 update (fact)
- It stopped working across AMD and NVIDIA GPUs (fact)
- possibly consoles as well (this still needs to be confirmed)
- HDR stopped working across a variety of monitors (fact)
- Someone has indicated HDR stopped working in other games that use the EA App after the EA App was also updated at the same time 4.2.0 was released
- This needs to be confirmed
@JRizzo67I think your "workaround" just make you play in SDR if i'm not wrong.
- @Colonel-Celeste I think you are correct. Still off, but def more playable. For instance maps with open areas of sunlight can still wash out. @BattlefieldDICEr, do you need someone to take an external video to see what's going on. Or have you identified the issue?
They just need to launch the game on an HDR monitor, run some map and they will see. I'm not even sure you will get same results through a video.
DO YOU NEED SOME HDR MONITORS EA ?! JUST TELL WE WILL SEND SOME !!! x)
I have the same monitor and on mine everything seems over saturated. Player tags wash out in the sky near any amount of light. Even the HDR calibration slider matches much much higher as if my monitor suddenly got twice as bright.
- @BearWitness79 Was put in Breakaway last night, impossible to play
Sounds right. I was playing Al Amien in the Portal rotation and every time I faced the sun I couldn’t see anyone on the ridge in front of me. My friend I was playing with (SDR on a ROG Swift) could see everything.
I played Battlefront 2 in perfect HDR so not sure it is related to the EA app.
Battlefront 2 : bought on ORIGIN
BF 2042 : bought on STEAM
