Thank you for following up, I was able to resolve the issue.

For anyone else who comes across my post, I'm not sure which step worked as I did all of them at the same time.

I am running the game through steam so these are the steps I took:

1. Go to library -> Right Click Battlefield 2042

2. General -> uncheck Steam Overlay

3. Controller -> Disable steam input

4. While in Battlefield I deleted all key binding on my controller under all the settings. 

I booted up a game and started playing fine. Hope this helps for anyone else.
