Re: packet loss

It's literally unplayable in its current state. I have exactly the same issue. No issues with my connection but my lord there's a massive issue when playing on 128 people servers.

  • I've gone as far as opening any port I can think of that relates to this game and it has not helped. I have reset my modem and my router and no success either.

Just like you, I can play literally any other game that I want to without any issues. As soon as I load into the game, it starts immediately. I actually got a few flashes of my latency and its well over 250 and seems to be constantly fluctuating.

  • Just don't I have spent 35+ hours trying to troubleshoot this issue with EA Support, this is the same link they send time and time again. This morning I hit rock bottom and reinstall windows and all I have installed on this device is BF 2042 and Origin and still see the same issue. @EA_Atic here a list of almost all Troubleshooting I have done and see no changes. There is a major issue with the game not working according to your minimum specs...

    1. Restarted all network devices.
    2. Attempted to see if I had packet loss or odd latency to several servers located in the US. (L.A., Dallas, Huston, Chicago, Newyork)
      1. All results are pings within expected milliseconds.
      2. No packet loss
    3. Attempted traceroutes to the same servers.
      1. No ISP loops to the data centres
      2. No failed routes
    4. Verified all network and video drivers were up to date.
    5. Disabled all firewalls on the device.
    6. Changed my DSN servers to multiple providers.
      1. Google: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4
      2. OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220
      3. Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1
    7. Verified no ports from the following list were blocked.
      1. purevpn.com/port-forwarding/battlefield-2042
    8. Utilizing the same port information set up forwarding for all ports on my network.
    9. Disabled all other start-up services on the device.
    10. Attempted a game session using safe mode with networking.
    11. Played other games, including Battlefield V and 1, to see if I experienced packet loss
      1. No network issues were detected on servers with acceptable ping 32ms-100ms

For the record my specs are:
    Ryzen 7 1700x Overclocked to 3.6 GHz

    32 GB of Ram

    GTX 1060 6gb
    Windows 10

    BF 2042 minimum specs:

    OS: 64-bit Windows 10

Processor (AMD): AMD Ryzen 5 1600

    Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K

    Memory: 8GB

    Video Memory: 4GB

Graphics card (NVIDIA): Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 560

    DirectX: 12

Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

    Hard-drive space: 100GB

If my experience is anything to judge by minimum specs people shouldn't even be able to play this game if I can't.

You are experincing exactly same problems as me, Have you noticed any similar wack going on in the 32/64 player server in the portal?

  • @EA_Atic

No, I have not because it is not worth my time when my connection is perfectly fine and works in LITTERRALLY EVERY OTHER GAME THAT I PLAY!

I don't mean to be rude here... but I am an IT Professional and I know when things are haywire on my end. My home setup is dedicated to video games and streaming and I have ensured that all of my internet connectivity is working as it should for this purpose.

The video posted by @Over2Take sums it up perfectly. The flashing yellow boxes remain flashing and everything moves around so unpredictably in the game it's unplayable.

I am honestly on the verge of requesting a refund for this mess and going back to Battlefield 4 if EA cannot get this resolved soon because this is ridiculous. The day1 patch resolved my ping fluctuation but the packet loss is still there.

  • @mmmiksu I have seen it in hazard zone and some portal servers, but it's brief and  ot constant like all out war

  • @Over2Take

Same exact thing going on with me as well. Done everything that I can think of besides reinstall the OS which I see that you did, so I figure that isn't going to help any. Each day I play at least 3 matches and then I can't take the lag anymore. I want to enjoy this game, I really do, but this lag is terrible.

Thats not network issues that hardware performance issues @Tika27093

The red/yellow marker is FPS issue warnings.

    What platform are you on?

    /Atic
  • Still rubber banding, when are you going to sort this issue and at least reply about the issue?!!!??!?

  • I thought so too but every other multiplayer game runs completely fine, even other battlefield games with full 64 player lobbies. But on 2042 I can barely get through a rush game without intense lag. Appreciate the reply tho

    Same rubber banding is ridiculous.

  • I have the same signs and same problem, it was a very bad experience for me. It doesn't improve in any way.

Correct thats FPS issues @direct3r from @Tika27093 video.

@MrHaydiePoohas a good example of network instability in their video.

So what about the rubber banding still, still no response from any post regarding this, your EA support are apparently aware of this, I've given up on the game and EA support, sick of going round in circles with them.

  • Are you on ps5? If so try going to network in your settings, go to set up internet connection, and press the options button on the wifi you are using. Then click on wifi frequency bands and switch it off of automatic. Try the 5ghz option and the 2.4 ghz and see which works better. This completely solved rubber banding for me. If it is on automatic it is most likely switching between 5 and 2.4 ghz which is causing it to not work as intended.

Was on wired connection, tried it on 5ghz band direct because I have my bands split, also even ordered a 5g mobile broadband hub and tried it with that and still getting it. 1 or 2 rounds could be ok but then it matchmakes again and the rubber banding starts. Never had issues on other games.

  • @domodemon Yea this issue is a weird one. Seems to have different solutions for different people. It’s hard to know if it’s a personal connection issue or one with the game. Hope that you find a solution soon. Have you tried resetting the console to default setting or clearing the cache? Those can be done in the PlayStations safe mode.

Had it from release, had a standard PS4 first, then the disc drive packed in so I went out and bought a PS4 Pro, I even bought an SSD drive for it and had the digital version, so it was a brand new install of software and the game, even tried reinstalling the game and still getting it. Check out the screen shot attached from EA support, but emails after that go round in circles asking if I get error messages or directing me to old forums for bf5. Thanks for trying though! Don't have any issue in other games or bf5.
