RTX 3050TI utilitialization issue (Low FPS, low GPU Uage)

Hi EA Community,

it's the first time i insert an issue here but i thought, that this problem would have high priority by EA and will be fixed soon but i was wrong and i'm very upset now, the issue is gpu usage in general. I'm a software engineer and i know that a lot of reasons can cause an H/W utilitialization issue, but i know either that such issues in a normal case shouldn't go into production and published to customers. The issue i talk about i have tested on 3 different portable systems (from DELL XPS, HP OMEN, MSI), that have almost the same spes.

System specifications:

CPU: Intel core i7 11800H

RAM: 32 GB DDR4 with 3200MHz

GPU: nVIDIA RTX 3050TI with 4GB DDR-6 (switchable with a main intel graphics card)

latest graphics drivers

I know, that this spes may be not enough to run the game with full performance at 4K resulotion, but it could easliy run any 2021 or 2022 game with DX12 at 1080p HDR and medium to ultra graphic settings.

Untill today and even with that lastest update on yesterday the 19.05.2022, this issue is still exist. This issue is, that the game is not using the full power of the gpu when lowering the graphics settings, like the other games, i have tested with the same tools.

I used a lot of testing software to test the gpu initialization and usage, it doesn't really matter if i change the graphics settings to low or even i set the resoluations to lowest available. The game is not using the GPU probely and this cause huge unstable frame rate and sometimes and with out any reasone it just goes under 30 fps (gpu usage in this case will be under 25%).

Lowering the graphics settings is not helping to gain extra fps in the game at all, but setting a higher quality will decrease the number of frames rendered per seconds.

We all know that a multiplayer shooting game in 2022 is not playable under 60 fps. I will wait until the next update, if this issue is not going to be fixed. I will uninstall it and never play it again.

Thanx for reading the issue

  • @Hard_Attack_HD Check your cpu use as that sounds like a cpu bottleneck to me.

And start wacking everything to off and low as there is some graphic settings that do impact cpu use.If you keep those low or off you lowr the cpu bottleneck and you can raise other settings to get quality back while not being cpu bottlenecked as much.

Also you need to give more information about your rig but everything leads to cpu. if it a prebuild? what cooler is on it and what are the temps and is it thermal throtling (dont think so as its a power saving cpu)

In my personam opinion this cpu is just terrible for cpu intensive games. warzon will for example not preform well at all either as that also requires a lot from the cpu. a cpu for gaming really needs more power then your chip is capable off as it it hard limited at 45 watts or 35 watts if set by whoever made your pc/motherboard.

  • Hey thanks for your replay,

I'm using a laptop "DELL XPS 15 9510" from the year 2021. I set every single thermal management to ultra performance and each power saving setting to off, since I'm using an external cooling system. By benchmarking the CPU it gaves a high benchmark score. It has (8 cores,16 threads, 24MB of cache, upto 4.2Ghz) and should be more than enough for running this game. The cpu stay cool while playing the game it doesn't even use its maximum frequency it can goes up to 4.2 GHz but it stay on 2.3 Ghz with a 23% to 45%  of usage. However I'm playing other games such as "Cyberpunk 2077, Ghostwire Tokyo " on the same laptop (The GPU utilitialization is between 97% to 99% all the time and the CPU goes over 3.0GHz with 55% to 80%) and i didn't got such an issue before. Why this issue is only appears, when i start this bf2042.
