Setting Controls/Bindings Causes Game to Crash

If I try to change any of the bindings, the game crashes.  I can't escape from the controls and I have to close BF in Task Manager.

  • Hey, @SgtMalReynolds  can you try a clean boot to see if any programs are messing with Battlefield 2042 and turn off any overlay programs, such as Discord or Nvidia experience.

Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have?

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

  • Thanks for that terrible bit of advice.  Clean booting my computer screwed up all my peripherals.  Speakers (sound card), keyboard, Razer keypad, etc.  Now I have to fix all that before I can even find out if BF works.  This was so NOT worth it.

@SgtMalReynolds How did it screwed up all the peripherals, only thing that clean boots does is stop programs on starting on start up. Starting the program after windows is running will work as before.

  • I don't know why it happened, but for example, I have a gaming keyboard with custom lights and macro keys, all of which had to be re-customized after clean booting my computer.  I just followed the instructions, which tell you to disable all the programs in the Services list.  It was kind of like uninstalling drivers and software for all peripherals.

Anyway, when I run BF2042 it keeps flashing the controls for an XBox controller to navigate the menu, so my mouse disappears every few seconds, making playing impossible.  I don't even have an XBox controller.

  • Yes I did ☹️  That was the problem all along......... I feel slightly dumb, LOL
