Tank canonm/machine gun auto aim - uncontrollable

I am on PS4 and I have exactly the same issue. I lose most tank fights cause my cannon aim seems to want to lock onto objects that are not vehicles and when I move to aim it jumps around. Even with a tank in front of me, the aim jumps from aiming at the sky then push aim down it jumps to the ground, etc. Left, right, up or down, it's not a smooth aim experience. Very uncontrollable and frustrating. I've tried all kinds of settings and searched the web for solutions but so far no luck.
