While we investigate what's going on here, the simplest solution is to uninstall this software so you can play. I won't have an update this week, so hold tight please, thanks.
We investigated the report of this ID controller software and have found the culprit to be related to a malformed root certificate installed by that software.
EA anticheat is not alone in struggling with this software, as you can see multiple external reports of widely used software (including Python! https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/79846#issuecomment-1093808502) having difficulty with SSL network connections when this certificate is present.
We are developing a plan to remediate this on our end, but I don't have a set date for that fix yet.
In the meantime, the only solution is to remove the certificate manually or uninstall the software whenever you want to play.
I have been battling this issue for months, ever since I installed the game this has been the issue for me. Support was no help, but it finally seems we may be getting down to the bottom of this. I unfortunately do not have the ID Card reader software installed (at least any that I am able to find) would there be any other similar programs I might have that would be causing this issue?
What certificate am I specifically looking for to remove?
