User.cfg doesn't work

Config file no longer working? Or it does work but just named differently? If it doesn't work now why?

  • Most likely Easy Anti-cheat is blocking the .cfg
    MSI Afterburner also doesn't work.

for me it works fine (eg. thread limitation works 100%, since altering the commands in the user.cfg yields different in-game console thread use reports), it either has to do with the commands youve put in, or the location of the file - needs to be in the game installation folder (, NOT ...Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings

@necropxhyte I can confirm that its not working. Maybe its working for some. But I tried this 100 times with many different variations even to the name format. I even tested the file with one command only that is simple.
  • @Halfgoku This may sound silly, but did you reboot your PC after editing the config? I know this shouldn't matter, but interested in the result.
  • @skates15 to be honest i did not with the new mega simple one line modifications. But It most likely is not the issue because I had the file on 3 different restarts on different days. But I will give it a go.
The only thing I might have different is that my games in a D:/ drive but who knows :P
  • @Halfgoku i also have origin and steam (bf2042 purchased through steam) installed on d:, and the user.cfg is in the steamapps/common/battlefield 2042 folder, while PROFSAVE_profile is in documents/battlefield 2042/settings on c:

but yes, seems as if this no guarantee that it works for others, like some have no cpu frametime issues, and others do, no matter the hardware 😉
