Why do I have to start 2042 twice to connect to servers?

Every single time I load up 2042 I get a black screen (no splash screen), I hear the music start and then the video starts with the satellite flying by but no "connecting to servers" and the 4 blocks doing their thing. The intro video just loops. I have to CTRL/ALT/DEL and End Task on 2042 and then launch the game again which then opens with the BF2042 splash screen and then to the satellite video and "connecting to servers" shows up and the game then loads.

Any ideas why it just wont load the first time? I've repaired and even deleted and reinstalled but same thing...start up, end task, restart and finally loads correctly.

I'm perplexed as to why this is happening. Yet if I play on GeforceNow it loads up just fine the first time off their servers.

Short of a clean install of Windows 10 again, I have no idea what the issue could be.

  • HI @vice350z If we have an Nvidia service that might be causing a hiccup we could try rolling back to a previous stable game-ready driver and check if this continues

Hey @vice350z There are a few reasons why the game may be failing to properly launch the first time.

Can we try running through the following and checking if this continues?

Did the EA App Cache: didn't work

Did the System File Checker Tool: didn't work

    Updated GPU drivers: didn't work

    Did a repair: didn't work

Disabled the few start up apps: didn't work

Did the Clean Boot: That actually worked and the game loaded the first time. So I went through all the services and started disabling/enabling by groups. After going through all of that, the issue for me was with the NVIDIA FrameView SDK service. After I narrowed it down to that, I enabled all the services back, kept that one off, rebooted and BF2042 now loads the first time correctly.

How could the Nvidia FrameView SDK be screwing things up?

EDIT: Rebooting my computer and its still happening....thought I narrowed it down but I guess not. I give up lol.
