I came across this thread in my now... year plus search for a remedy to this issue. Was just curious as of late if anybody here has possibly had a breakthrough with any of this?
Currently for me on my Series X - Bf2042, Madden 23, Doom Eternal will hard crash/shut off my Series X. AC Valhalla has done it me like 3 times over the course of 100 hours of play. The new Dead Space remake has done it twice in 5 to 6 total hours of gameplay. Rest of my library works perfectly fine. It's just these games. Doom will within 10 mins of a level. Same with Madden and Bf2042 no matter if portal or regular conquest or breakthrough.
I've gone thru countless "remedies" and the only that EVER actually worked for me was back in Decemeber 2021 a month after bf2042s launch someone said to enroll on the xbox insider program... into the system update preview program and sign up for the "Omega" preview. From then on... it worked perfect for around the month or so I played. Then came back to it 6 months later and boom. Back to shutting off.
I've tried plugging directly into a wall outlet. I read changing your DNS in your network settings to primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4 fixes this but no luck for me. I've tried running these games in 1440p and 1080p. With and without HDR and no luck.
I've heard the elite controller could be the issue but I was having this issue before I even bought one. Only thing I've noticed recently, I can actually play a bit longer into a game in bf2042 before it shuts it off and same with Doom eternal compared to when it first started happening.
Doom eternal started shutting it off after the free series x upgrade dropped. Bf2042 did it right at launch just minutes into a match. Dead space first did it when I was paused at the intro cutscene then again in chapter 2.
I've tried power save mode and the other. It didn't matter. The method mentioned on here about firing up a new install of bf2042, then hard quitting it. Full shutdown then fire it up and see, I haven't tried that yet. Or using a standard xbox controller. Currently installing and will report back.
Truly sorry for the novel I'm posting but trying to give as many details as I can. Like I said earlier in post.. only work around I've found that worked for at least a bit was enrolling in the xbox insider program system preview the Omega preview. But eventually even that stopped working. Hoping someone can finally figure out why this is happening. Truly frustrating. Like 300 bux in games I can't actually play or enjoy.
Last thing, my games are stored internally. No memory expansion or eternal of any kind. Also made sure nothing else plugged into my series x at all.
And why is thread marked "solved?" Always solved but never any answers or fixes.
