Just for context, what is your definition of a 'casual' player? I hear this term a lot. Is it time spent playing, or is it an attitude, or something else?
IMO, casual gaming is about relaxation without any struggle or stress. That's why casual gaming is often considered as playing on easy mode. That absolutely makes sense for the single-player games. However, making the multiplayer games casual seems to be some kind of nonsense. Making the multiplayer game too "easy" makes it actually harder for casual players, because all other players have the same features. And it makes it less interesting for "hardcore" players the same time. I believe there's no way to make it easy enough for "casual players" while keeping it interesting for the other ones.
