Battlefield 6 Beta review
I am a returning player with roundabout 800h in bf3 and 4. I mostly played infantry and the attack chopper (top 1% world in bf3). I have spent about 35+ hours in the beta. I apologize for my bad writing as this is a foreign language to me.
Let's start with classes.
I can understand you scrapped medic and support together, keep it simple. Recon has spawn beacon, engineer can repair and assault does what? What is his purpose? Assault does not contribute anything towards team play. There is nothing against a "solo" class for those who do not want to contribute to team play (in a team based game). But please, give assault at least something he can do to help others. And no, carrying 2 primary weapons does not help anyone.
Gunplay
Feels good most of the time. Some feel very solid (B36) some feel weirdly weak (mp7). But overall a very great step in the right direction. Hitreg feels laggy sometimes. Enemies require multiple well placed hits, you die in an instant. However it feels a bit odd to see a 8.6x70mm round do 60 damage, with headshot multiplier it gets up to 81 damage. Make headshot a kill. In general, increase headshot damage.
Maps
The maps feel strangely like they are moba inspired. Liberation Peak: there is a "top lane (c)" for tanks, a mid lane city (d) for infantry and a bot lane (canyon beside the city) for the attack chopper. In addition the map is mostly "flat" there is one hill at c, no other differences in altitude.
Cairo feels strangely similar. You have one top road and one bottom road (lane) for tank and IFV, middle is infantry only. In addition, the enemy can nearly move completely into your base, killing vehicles in spawn. I don't get the devs intention behind this.
Iberian offensive (a) and (e) is clearly a "tank lane". You can go "bot lane" instead (b and d) with ifv but it's clearly way more dangerous because infantry can shoot you from high ground.
For me, this feels too clean and organized. I miss the chaos and surprises of tanks suddenly crushing through houses and causing panic. Here it feels like there are places where vehicles are not allowed.
Vehicles
I am not a very experienced tanker..
But driving the mbt or ifv, again, feels inconsistent. One moment you get nearly no damage because of repairs and the next moment you die in an instant. Hitting a vehicle in the back or top for like 80 damage is way too much. Yes, vehicles should be weak from behind, but I don't think this should be so easily.
I think it's okay you have to commit at least 3-4 players (1 squad) to operate a vehicle for a perlonged time.
I like limited ammo on vehicles. Why does it take 1-2 Minutes to re arm the ifv if it's respawn timer is about 1 Minute? So it's faster or at least as fast as getting yourself killed and respawn. I think vehicles should be a valuable recource on the field worth saving and dying for. Destroying the enemy tank should give you significant advantage for at least a few minutes so that destroying feels worth the effort.
The attack chopper
Flight model is good and responsive. Chopper top speed could be a bit faster but that's not the problem.
There is next to no cover and you get out ranged by stingers. Listen, I can clearly understand you guys hate getting "chopped away" by 2 no lifers with 2k hours only on one vehicle...
Stinger has lock on range of (idk exactly anymore) like 600m. The choppers hydra rockets despawn beyond... like 400m? So a stinger can lock and shoot you even before you get intro range. You can flare once, he reloads in 5s and shoots you again doing about 90% damage. There is no terrain to hide. Take a look at Caspian boarder map for example. You have the south hills to hide and flee, there are woods, small hills, radio tower. Liberation Peak has none of this. Because of this about 30% of matchtime you stand (or hover) next to vehicle repair station while one enemy dude sits on c or at side, constantly locking and shooting you, even hitting you in the spawn. C-Ram in base defends vs missiles yes, but has a range of 30m, which is not enough to destroy those missiles. Stingers fly around obstacles even without line of sight to target. Don't get me wrong, stinger me, fight me, deny me airspace I beg you. But fight me, don't sit on point holding rmb and that's it.
The Gunners main gun needs to hit where it's pointed. It's no shotgun, remove or reduce random spray or give it more ammo. Slightly reduce flare cooldown or remake maps to create appropriate cover.
Last words:
The game feels like it's constantly holding you back once you get a hold of it and start to get better.
Your key selling point is warfare with vehicles. With and against. It seems like either you forgot how they work or you don't know what to do with them. If you keep em tuned down so you don't hurt anybody's feelings.. better remove them completely and focus on infantry. At the moment I see no reason to get this game. Vehicles, the main selling point, don't work as they should. For crisp infantry gunplay there is cod or even Delta force and they are free to play.
