Battlefield 6 Beta — A Dire Warning from a Hardcore Battlefield Fan

Dear DICE Team,

I’m writing this with deep frustration and concern as a hardcore Battlefield player who has spent thousands of hours mastering BF3 and BF4 — games that set the gold standard for tactical depth, weapon authenticity, and immersive battlefield experience.

The BF6 beta, despite its visual polish, feels like a hollow imitation of Call of Duty rather than a true Battlefield game. The gameplay is stripped of its soul: the lightning-fast time-to-kill (TTK) turns every encounter into a twitch shooter with no room for strategy or teamwork. Weapon mechanics have been dumbed down to a uniform “one-size-fits-all” approach, erasing the unique characteristics that once demanded real skill and adaptation.

Player movement has been turned into an over-the-top arcade spectacle — slides, cancels, and hyper-agility dominate, sacrificing the grounded, weighty, and realistic soldier feel that gave Battlefield its identity. This “CoDification” undermines immersion and alienates your loyal community.

The UI and menus blatantly copy Call of Duty’s style, stripping Battlefield of its unique flair and personality. Instead of refining the legendary formula of BF3/BF4, BF6 is chasing a generic, fast-paced shooter model with vehicles tacked on — a diluted shadow of what Battlefield truly is.

If this trajectory isn’t corrected, BF6 will be remembered alongside BF2042 as a cautionary tale of a franchise losing its essence in pursuit of trends and mass appeal.

I urge you to listen closely to your dedicated fans: restore tactical depth, weapon variety, realistic and meaningful movement, and the immersive battlefield chaos that made Battlefield iconic.

Failure to do so risks the franchise’s legacy and alienates the very community that has sustained it for years.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,
[A Battlefield Fan Who Refuses to Accept Mediocrity]

You may be looking back with rose tinted glasses.

Dolphin diving was a thing, that was massively unrealistic. Sprinting with a M60e was ridiculous. Etc

The slick movement is great and they have stated that in its beta form right now some animations are not in or not working.

The guns handle really well, ttk is easily tuned, we don't want the "bullet sponge" style of yesteryear but, yes, it would be nice to have a little more than 0.17ms to react to being shot but as the shooter you do not want them to be sponges. So, this can be adjusted regularly.

The vehicles definitely do not feel bolted on, they feel really good, grounded, heavy lumbering.

To people like me who have played since the 1st of the series came out, it's about gameplay fun but not silly arcade style like COD, but it was never a realistic military shooter. It was "more" realistic, with bullet drop and more physics etc.

BF6 is very close to achieving this, more grounded and tactical than COD but not too slow and cumbersome with reality.

Hopefully with more feedback from the beta we will see some tuning.

    Signed,

A veteran of the series since day 1.

  • I'm torn. I find some of the maps a bit too small. The balancing isn't exactly great either. The TTK (time to kill) is way too fast with some weapons, and the shotguns are overpowered. So there's definitely still a lot of room for improvement. I'll definitely wait for the first reviews. So far, the game hasn't fully convinced me.

A veteran since day one too

  • Air vehicles feel like a 2nd thought in this game when it comes to the handling, Its literally a step backwards compared to BF3 and 4, those game had dogfight mechanics for jets, you could circle strafe in the chopper, BF6 feels shallow with no skill ceiling to work towards.

I’m with ya bro. I have the very exact concerns and have raised them also earlier in a post hours ago. Pretty much all the same as yours.
im a fan who has been playing since the first BF 23 years ago.
this game has literally been turned into cod.
needs to be slowed down, make the maps bigger, get rid of the ridiculous slide.
sincerely another BF dedicated player of 23 years

You're 100% correct. Only 2042 and CoD spillovers will claim BF6 feels like a Battlefield game. It does not. It's a CoD clone with vehicles (poorly) tacked on

As a fellow BF3/ BF4 player, I see your complaints about high TTK and fast movement and suggest for you to try playing BF 4 again, but only playing the smaller/ close quarters map. You would quickly notice that the TTK and movement of BF 6 is actually pretty similar.

  • I’m not sure on this one, I believe TTK 100% needs working, but sometimes in the other direction, I was blasting people and getting so many hit markers and they were not dead. It needs refining for sure, but not always because it’s too fast. I noticed if I died quickly it was because I was sprinting and run and gunning or it was close quarters. Fair gun fights at distance when playing strategically felt fair and good. I do believe people complaining about this is either skill issue or play style. I have played bf3 and bf4 not since the start though. I felt myself frustrated at some deaths for sure but overall I felt it was balanced 50/50 and most matches I had a lot more kills than deaths whilst playing objective with my friends as a squad. If we died we got smoked and revived to fall back and try that firefight again. Battlefield is a squad game not a single player.

the game needs some fixing but to say it is going to flop is definitely not the case. The movement is generally okay and again it’s only beta. I’m assuming they will add a lot more features to vehicles and refine things for this weekend. But we need to acknowledge the huge step forward from 2042 and the direction it’s taking away from COD. I’m super glad we don’t have Bevus and Butthead running around the battlefield with rainbow shooting guns.

there's nothing wrong with fast TTK. Hitreg is busted in this game, when you see hitmarkers you should see damage and currently that seems to be completely random. I'm hoping this is a server issue and not intentional because if they're messing with hitreg intentionally then I'm canceling my preorder.
