Battlefield 6 Beta 1+2 Feedback
Post-Beta 1 Observations/Feedback/Recommendations:
- (Feedback) - I still don’t like random recoil/‘drift’ deviation, still want a pattern. I've seen videos, and it seems like controller players get a rather egregious decrease in recoil due to their aim-assist magnetism; it also assists their target acquisition. And I also really don't think they should get their magnetism in sniper scopes. It encourages some bad gameplay habits, as they just run into a crowd and start aiming down sights and letting the magnetism pick out targets.
- (Feedback) - The number of angles is crazy, it is insanely hard to stand anywhere and not be shot from 4 directions. These almost feel like larger BF3 close-quarters maps. This is largely due to map size, and I certainly hope there are larger maps available in the final product.
- (Feedback) - Helicopter handling is awful. Way too slow, no real momentum to carry. Can't nose up to save your life.
- (Feedback) - Armor gun rotations are awful (PC). Way too slow, only viable means of traversal is in third person, and then switch to first person to gain precision, which is not ideal. Moreover armor on the maps available is heavily limited, mobility wise, both in that there are only a couple routes available, and that they are SO SLOW.
- (Feedback) - Map rotation: I reeeaaally don’t want to play the same map 2-5 times in a row. I get why you don’t want to have a server browser (though miss me with this SBMM—losing 5 games in a row by 600 tickets with the best squad on the team), but there needs to be a full rotation, not a random system.
- (Feedback) - Shotguns (buckshot) are overtuned (again). Also having a shotgun available as a secondary is brutal. I’d rather see that two-primary thing gone.
- (Observation) - There’s a weird delay(?) or something to the mouse control, feels similar to the problems 2042 had.
- (Feedback) - I’d like the sights to be a bit more visible. They can be too small or not bright enough.
- (Feedback) - Snipers really shouldn’t be able to hit me at 200 meters while being sprayed at and/or hit by bullets.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - There needs to be a longer sniper scope available than 6x; and it feels like all the scopes don’t magnify as much as it says they do anyhow. 8x was the prior default, and was more than sufficient for me.
- (Feedback) - Headglitches (When the enemy you are aiming at is in cover and you can only see the top of their head) are brutal. I swear I’ve been shot by people where I can’t even see the top of their head.
- (Feedback) - The fire grenade launcher is annoying as hell, it sticks you in place, too slow to escape at times, just dumb.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - Attachments feel lackluster, and don’t feel sufficient to accomplish what I’d like. i.e. add accuracy to the M417. I also don't particularly like that there's a laser sight (the blue one) that adds to accuracy. I personally think ADS accuracy should be tied to barrels, muzzles, or grips. A laser should grant hip-fire accuracy, not ADS accuracy--doesn't make any sense.
- (Feedback) - Pistols are too weak, and the recoil from them makes landing follow-up shots confusing, as you can’t really tell where they’re landing while in ADS.
- (Observation) - Time-to-kill feels very inconsistent. Sometimes people die in 4-5 bullets, sometimes it takes half a mag.
- (Feedback) - Scope movement in ADS is annoying. Stylish, sure, but gameplay reductive. I think it’s a bit excessive.
- (Feedback) - Performance can be very variable (but I love that I can turn off upscaling entirely, thank you!)
Post-Beta 2 Observations/Feedback/Recommendations:
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - I think the M4A1 needs to be nerfed. It was by far the most utilized weapon in the beta, and it's just reeeaaally good. I think the fire-rate needs to go down to the low end, probably 750RPM, and be a more controllable option, rather than what it is now, which is basically a BF4 AEK-971.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - I noticed the exploits in the first beta, but it's only gotten worse, and the primary culprit is parachuting. The parachute deploys too easily, flies way too fast, and descends too slowly, this allows for extraordinarily easy traversal, and is allowing people to get into, and on top of, otherwise inaccessible areas.
- (Recommendation) - Those aforementioned inaccessible areas should honestly be kill-zones (see the mountains on BF3-Damavand Peak). Same with the mountains on Liberation Peak. People being up on those just breaks the game; it's not fun to be countering snipers in glitch spots all game.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - To add to what I've said about the recoil and accuracy before: I think every gun at a baseline right now feels too inaccurate, especially over short bursts. The first shot should always be accurate to the reticle in ADS, regardless of movement (as long as you're not in the air, or something). And the following few shots should be more accurate than the shots that follow, and should be reset be ceasing fire, and bursting again. Like old times. Right now, it feels like everyone just sprays until the bullets hit--not conducive to good gameplay.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - In the weapon customization menu, the graphs and icons are sometimes confusing, as there is no explanation as to what they mean, so rather than icons, they really should just we worded, so you can concisely know what they mean, and how those stats affect your weapon.
- (Feedback) - I only noticed in this beta that the tank has 2 different types of shells available. This is easily noticed if you use the first-person HUD, but the control for it [4] (on PC) is not clearly visible in the HUD, and in third person especially, it is very hard to tell which shell is actively equipped, as it's just an icon. Needs to be more obvious.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - Class equipment is locked to their respective slots if there are only two of them, like the defib and deployable cover. For the sake of control customization, you should really just be able to swap those two around. Moreover, it would be nice if the class item (ammo/health) could be interchanged within slots between the three of them as well. This would make the controls much easier and less confusing.
- (Feedback) - I hate the deployable cover and wish it would disappear into the mountains never to be seen again.
- (Feedback) - I reeeaaally want the weapons locked to classes. Tired of seeing snipers up on the mountains sitting on health kits with effectively infinite ammo.
- (Observation) - Hit registry is... questionable. Not sure if it's down to accuracy, or netcode, but it has some moments where bullets just don't connect.
- (Feedback) - Repair tools are insane. The most egregious example I can think of is a game of breakthrough on the last objective of Siege of Cairo. The enemy team parked a Bradley on the point and we could not kill it. All damage was being completely negated by repair tools.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - 'Request Revive' should be automatic, as it's very annoying to forget to push that button, and miss out on a revive because of it. But also, I find this system to be detrimental to gameplay. In the past--BF4--it was a fixed amount of time, which made it consistent. Now, you have players that will stay on the ground for the entire amount of allowed time, so they're sitting their dead, not doing anything, when they could be contributing to the team.
- (Feedback/Recommendation) - The helicopter pilot's reticle makes it very hard to land missiles on target. Ideally there should be a dot, or some sort of icon in the center of the two bars on either side of the reticle, telling me where the missiles will land. (i.e. BF3, BF4 Viper reticle).
- (Recommendation) - Jumping while shooting/sliding should be far less accurate. I really don't want to see a CoD-like hyper movement style game again.
Regarding 'Challenges':
- Having a challenge tied purely to playing offense or defense is very annoying. Specifically, the challenge requiring the player to capture 15 sectors in breakthrough or rush entails that the player be on the Offensive team specifically. I personally had about 6 games in a row on defense. You can imagine why that might be annoying, given that you can't choose which side you'll play on. In the future these objectives should be tailored to playing their respective mode, regardless of team.
BUGS:
- Terrain is inconsistent, has a tendency to launch you into the air.
- The Mobile AA in first person occasionally clips into the sight when looking up. And in third person the view can be completely obstructed.
- Scope bounce when you step over something is gnarly. I get if people are jumping and shooting or something, but a tiny ledge sending my sight to the stratosphere is extreme.
- There's a "Fake Damage" bug that seems to be somehow related to destructible objects (glass, flowerpots, etc.) where it shows your health deplete, but your health is actually full. Very annoying.
- The IFVs (Bradley?) main cannon's explosion sticks you in place, similar to how a bug made all explosives do that early in BF2042.
- There’s some lighting map issues, especially on Siege of Cairo, there were times I felt as if I was looking into the BF3 sun on a wall.
- There's a hole in the map on Iberian Offensive, in the corner of the 90-degree stairwell across from C towards A, in between the buildings.
