battlefield 6 will never be as great as battlefield 2. server browsers, map rotation, big open maps, medals, ribbons, the voice over guy with the drum roll when you rank up or earn an award, ranks that take months/years to earn, jets that can only repair flying over runways, the commander rank, sending in uav and artillary or a supply crate, giving squads orders, engineers repairing the artillary when its been destroyed with c4 by the enemy team, the music on loading screens, the armies chosen, mec, china, usa, sas, night maps with proper night vision, flash bangs, grapple hooks and zip lines. ranks were so hard to grind up but it was good, i think i only saw just 1 player with 2nd lieutenant rank. strike at karkand, the best map, i can still hear people spamming enemy boat spotted in the middle of the desert. go, go, go, hit it!
and then theres bf6. match making, cod tdm style maps with everyone rushing around with shotguns. try playing rush on match making and you get defender everytime, it just doesnt work.
ye its a cool new revive/drag, its cinematic, it looks pretty, but it doesnt have the soul bf2 had. its nothing more than a cash grab, i believe bf6 will do really well but after a couple months, flop.
please make a game like bf2, 20 years on and we still miss it. will anyone even remember bf6 in 20yrs?
i complain cos i care. so disappointed the way battlefields recent games have turned out.
people even made songs on yt about bf2 "bf2 apc song"
back when we had server browsers, communities and a good time.
i hope the beta really is just a beta and we have more surprises when the full game launches. please prove me wrong battlefield. please! - NSTchai8 days agoNew Rookie

This isn't a Beta, its a Demo. There's no way any of this is getting fixed by October. This is what you see, this is what you get. Im not getting it.

EA ignored the player base. They attempted their PR stunt with BF Labs and the only thing they cooked up was a way to sell skins in an $80 game and screw BF players once again.
BF is about team play in all-out warfare. All of the features that promote team play are essential. They ignored players and this will not turn out well for them.
I will bet that after a few weeks of this tripe, the CoD crowd will get bored with everyone running around with the same 2-3 meta weapons and this game will die. There is simply no way that EA will make another true BF game as the cannot make a game that is simply profitable. They need to make all of the money in the world, so it's pointless to complain about it.
RIP BF. Some of the greatest games ever. There is not a chance in hell that I'll buy this game.

I'm not saying you guys are 'wrong' but pretty much all the comments here are ignoring it's a beta.
- We are seeing a limited amount of content (guns, maps, etc).
- The netcode is a little lacking possibly because they will have diagnostics/logging turned way up (so TTD < TTK and feels off) and because they cannot have had large scale testing before now.
- The pacing feels fast from many small contributors like netcode, TTK, map size which will all 'change'.
- The Server Browser is the 'old' way of doing things and there _are_ ways to get what we want without insisting on that particular solution. They already added a Custom Search which conceptually, if expanded and joined with Portal, can give 99% of what people want from a server browser.
- There isn't much co-op currently because _everyone_ is experimenting and, yes, there are a bunch of players not used to it. For me, the potential for squad co-op being a deciding factor in victory is large and DICE appear to have made more effort to emphasise it than in a long time.
I could go on, but as I say, most comments can be answered with "it's a beta" if you are open-minded.
I've played many thousands of hours in Battlefield. I played about 50 hours each of BF5 and BF2042 before struggling for refunds because they were so NOT Battlefield and so disappointing.
The BF6 beta has many issues, but is better than both those were at release.
Also I think you guys are simply forgetting how BF2/3/4 actually were. You can still play Locker and Metro in BF4. Go remind yourself what Battlefield can be. Sure, what EA/DICE have chosen to showcase is more Metro than Caspian Border, but Liberation Peak is pretty much Siege of Shanghai but with smaller buildings and a mountain instead of a skyscraper and Siege of Cairo is pretty much Zavod without the roof campers.
The fact that Operation Firestorm is coming and more classic maps have been teased is very positive, no?
There is a lot DICE can do to change things considerably. Tightening the netcode and reducing some bullet damage and range would transform the TTK and TTD. The movement speed is actually less than BF4, but it could be made more grounded like BF1 with a few tweaks
Don't get me wrong, I think BF1 is still better overall, but BF1 was all about being better overall. I will still play BF1 because it is so good and so different.
But BF6 is 'worthy' I think. No, it isn't a complete return to 'old school' BF, but those days are gone, whether we want it or not.
For me a lot of what I don't like about BF6 is because it is like BF4. The jets being near unkillable and farming infantry. The snipers being such an irritation and ptfo suck (BF4 had many sniper limit servers). The rifles being cross-map lasers (remember tap-tap-crossmap death in BF4?). Even the broken shotguns are just like the sniper rifle CQC OHK.
Battlefield is lots of things to lots of people and we all have bits we didn't like. I love love love BF1, but there are lots of things I dislike in it.
I'm giving BF6 a chance. It's not BF5/BF2042. It might turn out good.

You have to be insane to think that this is worse than 2042.

Let’s dismiss the gunplay. Which, let’s be serious, doesn’t even come close to the standard set by other FPS titles like PUBG, and the pitiful lack of destruction. 2042 is better by almost every other metric. Moreover, by the time it wrapped up its lifecycle, the gunplay had improved significantly and wasn’t far off from what we see in the current iteration. Helicopters felt far less restrictive compared to now. The maps actually resembled Battlefield’s signature scale and design, unlike the half baked jank we’re stuck with today. Specialists was a concept that never really made sense obviously.

This game objectively has more destruction than the vast majority of shooters, and a lot of it overall.
2042 is better by almost every other metric.
Except for map design (better too small than the vastly too large maps that are 50% empty wasteland with zero cover), gunplay (far less beamy and way lless bloom), garbage specialists with BS abilities like wallhacks, terrible XP system, movement. Then of course there is also the garbage tornadoes that are just a major annoyance. BF6 is better than 2042 in almost every metric. If not straight-up every metric without exception.
