Battlefield is BACK!.. kinda
Let me start off by saying I am a LIFELONG battlefield veteran. I have played every battlefield ever made. To make it simple, if I had 1$ for every hour of gameplay in the series, I would be beyond wealthy. That being said, here are a few early thoughts on the beta so far...
Gunplay feels fairly solid, could use some tweaks but overall feels familiar and solid.
Vehicles feel weak and a little...bad (I mean come on, even the 2042 beta had better vehicles. I'd even go as far as to say Hardline did it better.)
Classes are back! And definitely a step in the right direction. Though medics with machine guns is hilarious.
Maps...here's where my real complaint is. Battlefield was built on massive maps that left squads and teams room to maneuver and strategise.
Don't get me wrong, we all love a huge melee. Locker, Epicenter, Ziba Tower, Damage, Harbor Edge, Russian Border, and Metro were all awesome and what real vetran could forget The Iron Gator! But where is the battlefield scale? Maps like Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island, Dragon Valley, Backstab, Black Gold, Valparaiso, Sinai Desert, and Hamada are what made Battlefield what it is. Huge maps for the time, where you had room to move around and plan out your next move.
To wrap it up, its good to see Battlefield take a few steps in the right direction...but seriously. We had bigger (and honestly better) maps 20 years ago on the PS2! As a veteran of over 20 years in the series it will take alot more convincing to get me to buy BF6 at full price.
