For all the trash talk about 2042, the weapon and gear unlocks were outstanding. I enjoyed being able to run certain weapons, attachments, vehicles, upgrades by actually playing the prior well felt great.
Did you know that BF 2042 had the same progression unlocks with rank?
Weapon Assignments were there for unlocking post-launch weapons which I assume BF 6 will also do.
If you played during the season the weapon is introduced, you unlock them through battle-pass progression anyway and skip the post-season weapon assignment requirement.
Only assignments which I think was mandatory was the ones to unlock Portal-ported weapons.
if I want a certain gun at higher levels, instead of playing well with what I got instead I'll just play like an *sshole to get that particular level without any care of how I got there.
Playing well still gets your there faster.
Though, instead of "playing like an *sshole", lazy players will probably just go into an XP grind Portal server anyway.
