BF6 Feedback - Weekend #1
Hi, firstly, just wanted to say thank you to the entire team behind BF6. This game so far has shown INCREDIBLE promise. Me and my crew had a lot of fun playing this weekend.
We are looking forward to a larger variety of maps and game modes. Understandably, the limited playlist for the beta eventually got a little stale but it makes sense that the team wanted to collect data on fast, action packed maps to focus on mechanics and give engagement to the players.
I have been playing FPS games since the original Halo. Here are my high level thoughts:
What We Really Liked:
Mobility: It is faster paced than games my crew typically plays (we have about 30 people who game together). We typically gravitate toward slower paced, more methodical shooters like Ready or Not, Escape from Tarkov and Arma Reforger. Having said that, we still really liked the game. Running doesn't feel like i've been doing speed for 3 days prior to the match. I'm VERY glad that there's not a tactical sprint... thank YOU! I'm not a super big fan of the slide and how momentum carries through the complete motion. Diving makes a lot of sense, I have no complaints there and honestly it adds quiet a bit of intensity when I dive behind cover just as a sniper round flies over my head.
Audio: It has already been said multiple places, but the team behind the audio did an INSANE job. The game feels in my face, gritty, loud, and immersive. I love it. My whole crew could not stop raving how good the game sounds on Wartapes / VAL settings.
Destruction: The destruction on the maps we did play opened up and entirely new way to play the game. We were able to circumvent enemy defenses just by blowing holes in walls, ceilings.... I cannot express how much fun the destruction has been. Honestly, I don't think y'all have peaked. I would love to see some The Finals level destruction in this game with independent physics. Keep pushing the limits! It's gorgeous and very fun
What we didn't like / What could be adjusted:
Defibs: They are a bit clunky with how they contact the targets. This only seems to apply to downed teammates. When using them as a weapon, they seem to make sense. It seems that they don't accurately interact with the downed teammate.
DMRs: I struggle to really find where DMRs fit into the mix. They aren't as heavy hitting as snipers, but still draw the exact same attention as a sniper with glare. They don't shoot fast enough to be viable in short/medium engagements. Typically, there is a better option for every level of engagement than the DMR options we were given. I feel like decreasing the scope glint compared to bolt action snipers would make them a little more desirable, while keeping their damage within a reasonable scope. I could also see giving them upgrades (Like the HK417) that make them more responsive in close quarters.
Infantry Controls: It would be REALLY nice to have more control of our character. PLEASE give us leans. The auto lean was buggy and would not accurately detect corners well. I would much rather just control it myself. More and more, the option to lean and have more dialed in control of my characters posture would be INSANE. There are so many options here that would give us even more immersion into the game.
Keybinds: When I try to rebind my buttons, it's a bit clunky. Having the option to do something like "alt + T" or other key combinations. A lot of other shooters allow for more customized keybind mapping. Also.. the UI is clunky. I wish I could give more clarity on this, but it's hard to explain.
The Menu UI: Honestly, don't rework the menu, just please create a search option. You could definitely rework the menu to be more intuitive, but I genuinely think that a search option would be really nice.
Prox Chat: Adding in the ability to communicate with your teammates outside of text chat would be awesome. Please create a proximity chat like Hell Let Loose, Arma, Squad and other FPS shooters.
Spotting: I really think that spotting enemies is overpowered in this beta. I'm not a fan of how easy it is to get spotted on the map. If there are built in effective ways to counter this (suppressors etc...) Please go into more detail on how that is happening.
Weapon Descriptions: We need more explanation for what EXACTLY an attachment does. I need more detail on exactly how it interacts with my weapon and the environment.
Vehicle Testing Area: Please give us a firing range for vehicles. Specifically, the aircraft are super clunky initially and I had a really hard time tweaking my controls in a live match. Please build a "hangar" mission that lets us tweak and test vehicles.
Servers: PLEASE FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD, give us a server lobby / Post game map voting. Getting kicked from the server when i've already got a full team match that could just keep playing together is frustrating. Also, playing the same side of breakthrough the entire night is exhausting.
