BF6 (Mostly Air Combat) Beta Feedback

Just a few notes from my 23 hours playing the Beta:

  • Air vehicles need a buff on their flares, or soldiers need their SAMs nerfed.
    • Flares take too long to replenish when flying jets or helicopters, making them too vulnerable to missile attacks. Engineers spawn with something crazy like 4 SAMs before needing to be resupplied. 1 SAM does enough damage to almost completely destroy any air vehicle (about 80% - 90% damage in my experience). Air vehicles are not easily repaired, meaning that any small ground fire to weaken them up will lead to 1 missile destroying the vehicle. I'm not sure if the full game will have better unlocks for missile defense, but right now it is not easy to survive in the air with just 1 or 2 Engineers observant towards the sky. The range at which Engineers can lock on with SAMs is pretty far too, for how small the maps are. I think the missiles are fine for air-to-air combat. Air vehicles should be most concerned about what is in the air with them, rather than fearing ground attacks.
  • Sky boxes and maps are too small.
    • Maybe it's by design, but it is difficult to line up a proper strafe or attack run using air vehicles when the sky ceilings are so small, and the surrounding area is tight as well. There is no indication that you hit the ceilings either, other than your vehicle losing responsiveness and lift, until you find yourself stalling out of the sky. Maybe a notification or slight screen color variation when you are hitting map boundaries can help players know the limits? This exists for exploring too far out of the combat zone, but not when hitting ceilings. Liberation Peak feels very concentrated with the layout and objectives; there is little room to line up air attack runs on objectives when everything feels so close together. For air vehicles being so susceptible to ground attacks, we need more room to evade missiles and ground fire.
  • Air vehicles are not responsive enough.
    • I spent countless hours flying jets in BF3 and BF4, but here in BF6 it feels like the jets are sluggish in turns. Decreasing speed in BF6 decreases your turning rate, rather than decreasing your turning radius to make a tighter turn. Next, maybe I missed this option in the settings, but when I used the Free Cam in jets, I was unable to continue operating flight controls. So I had to point myself in the sky or somewhere clear from terrain if I wanted to look behind me. This issue is worsened by the prementioned small sky boxes. We need to be able to observe and fly at the same time. For helicopters, everything feels much slower. Helicopters are even more vulnerable than jets from hostile ground fire. You must worry about SAMs, small arms fire, AA emplacements, RPGs, and even tank shells. The biggest critique I have for helicopters is their lack of vertical thrust. When I need the helicopter to climb to evade hostile fire, or to recover from its forward position after a strafe (forward attitude), it feels like the helicopter is struggling to climb over its own weight. Helicopters are not responsive enough for quick maneuvers and often end up as easy targets for RPGs or tank shells.
  • Option to remove squad mate pings from kill feed?
  • Option to put a legacy compass above our minimap instead of the top of our screen?
    • With how important the minimap is in BF6 for situational awareness, I prefer the old compass being right above the minimap.
