Closed weapons

Hello all,

I feel the need to discuss the closed vs open weapons issue because it’s something I feel pretty strongly about. I firmly believe the game should be class locked weapons only. This is a core pillar of the franchise, period. The devs are constantly discussing how they’re focusing on class identity and how to make each class unique, but class locked weapons is a massive part of that they don’t seem to touch on. One thing in particular that they’ve talked about how they’re moving the insertion beacon to the assault class to give it more of a role on the front line, but with open weapons what’s to stop people from equipping a sniper on assault and camping with it as they did before?

I know they have both open and closed weapons playlists, however this risks fragmenting the play base plus its obvious what they’re leaning more towards (only conquest for closed weapons in the beta vs conquest, breakthrough and domination for open weapons).

I sincerely hope dice/BF studios considers this moving forward as I truly believe it does encourage more teamwork, more tactile gameplay and an overall better experience as they have said they’re trying to aim for.

  • Hi,

i fully agree I think they should keep the classic closed weapon game modes, that’s what battlefield is, you play reacon class you only get to use snipers and those types of weapons, you play assault you get to use assault type guns…. Who plays a reacon class and runs around with an SMG..

️ I don’t think they should have both types it will split the player base too much. That’s one thing that ruined battlefield 2042 and battlefield 5, who agrees ?
