Macro and micro in the future, including what we’re seeing in the current beta
Corridor maps can exist. Some players only want the knife between their teeth, and that’s fine. It’s even smart to keep that door open, it brings outsiders, gives rhythm between long matches and breaks routine. But the dev team must remember the hierarchy, macro rules. Classes with unavoidable functions, vehicles with disable-and-rescue loops, information and logistics deciding the round, ballistics that demand reading. Without that, the corridor becomes the rule, the rest of the game a supporting cast and the identity dissolves.
If the discussion falls into the old line “BF3 became another game”, remind the reader of the whole: while the corridor made noise, combined arms war continued in full. Ballistics still demanded respect, vehicles still needed engineers, Recon still connected sky and ground, the LMG still bought time. The micro was there, but the macro kept ruling. That’s how Battlefield breathes, that’s how it wins.
WOWWW!!!!!
Man, you really delivered the definitive guide.
While they went chasing after "influencers" with numbers but zero real Battlefield experience, you brought what truly matters: vision, passion, and a deep understanding of the franchise. If they had given the community a voice, especially to those who genuinely love this series, the quality of feedback would’ve been on a whole other level. What you wrote represents us. You put into words everything we've been missing and struggling to express clearly.
If we combine this with the feedback on ballistics, TTK, map design, and all the other technical points, there it is, they have the goldmine in their hands. The opportunity is right there. It’s just a matter of whether they have the courage and competence to follow that path.
And when you talked about the difference between MACRO and MICRO, that was the core of the discussion, the real X factor📌. They don’t need to throw away what they’ve already built. If the goal is to attract a more casual player base, fine, that fits in the micro, just as you described. CoD proves that this approach works, but Battlefield has always been more than that.⚠️⚠️
And the best part, nothing stops them from playing both sides. It’s been done before, just look at BF3. It was accessible, but still carried all the depth that the veteran community values.
Now the big question that remains is:
Do they even have the ability to build the macro?🤔🤔
Let’s hope so. Let’s hope they have the right people qualified for that task. And honestly, it would be far more promising if DICE had brought back the team behind BF4 and BF1, even if it came at a high cost.👀
Because at the end of the day, investing in those who understand the soul of the franchise isn’t an expense. It’s the only path to bringing back the real Battlefield.
