Feedback on Naval Combat in Battlefield 6

I know I’m not invisible to the target audience of Battlefield veterans that this game is partly aiming for. Since the early Battlefield titles, naval gameplay has always been a fascinating part of the experience. I won’t go too deep into the earliest days — where we even had a mobile aircraft carrier serving as your team’s base — but I will point out the progression we’ve seen.

In Battlefield 3, naval gameplay was limited to a few boats. Then Battlefield 4 truly earned its stripes: not only did the base game launch with maps that featured meaningful naval combat and a solid variety of sea vehicles, but it later released the Naval Strike expansion. That expansion brought back a fan-favorite mode — the aircraft carrier assault — where we could deploy from a carrier, engage in amphibious assaults across island chains, and combine air, land, and sea forces in epic battles.

I strongly urge anyone with influence at the studio to give naval combat the attention it deserves. One of Battlefield 4’s biggest selling points in its marketing was the ability to fight on land, sea, and air. That promise set it apart, and it’s a major reason why many veterans still remember it fondly.

So far, in the Battlefield 6 beta and trailers, I’ve seen nothing that suggests naval combat will be a meaningful part of the experience — aside from a brief cinematic that appears to be tied to the campaign. That worries me. Naval warfare adds a strategic layer: the thrill of fighting on land while knowing you could be supported (or threatened) by enemy or allied forces from the sea and air.

Please, bring back robust naval gameplay. It’s one of the elements that made Battlefield truly stand out.
