Game is too fast. My list of feedback
- Game is too fast.
In absolutely every conceivable way. Everything could be 1/3rd slower and it would overall be a better game. And I mean everything. Reload time, respawn time, gun fire speed, run speed, capture speed, TTK!, etc.
It is all one huge Zerg for Zoomers. Not like the good old days of BF2/BF3. Even BF1/BF5 was slower. Only 4 was fast and I didn't like 4 either.
This has cascading problems like weakening the effect of slow and precise semi auto fire over medium range. - Sensory Overload
higher graphic fidelity comes at at cost. There is too much going on, everywhere. Too many leaves, debris flying everywhere. Too much graffiti on the walls. Too many differing textures. Too much goddamn SMOKE from every rocket, grenade, tank shot and soldier fart.
And it's all from the similar color palette making it extremely hard to spot enemies. Together with the fast speed of the game gives you little time to orient yourself or find a safe spot before boom, you're dead again. - Spawn points are too close / Maps are too small
This point goes hand in hand with 1.
By having everything cramped so tightly together, you're almost always in combat and the game plays faster. You spawn way too close to the enemy (outside of special points like beacons). There is no time to get a feeling for your surroundings. And when you finally do have 25 degrees of your front or back cleared, enemies can spawn there again. You are in constant danger everywhere. At least on the smaller map of today's beta. - Medic class & respawns
with all the game speed its faster to just respawn than wait for a medic, severely limiting that class' playstyle. Respawn time is WAY too fast. You are not incentivizing good play, but inconsequential zerging and pushing. If you have a long respawn timer, your life becomes more precious and you worry about your uptime
Bugs:
extremely high CPU usage/bottleneck (100% at 5.6ghz on a 9800x3d with hyperthreading disabled)
Games often don't load. Everytime at the end of a round as it finishes counting down for a new match it will just show the titles screen and flicker. Sometimes the first game does this too. I think msi afterburner overlay may have something to do with it.
Firemode (Single/auto) isn't fully visible in the UI and is overlapped (F12)
Overall I am very disappointed with this game, which feels like a fastpaced CoD/Counterstrike with a Battlefield coat of paint.
I long for a Battlefield that goes back to the roots of BF2 and 3.
EDIT: few more notes:
can't unbind console, i keep hitting the tilde key when i mean to hit escape w/out realizing it and wonder why there is no input.
can't zoom on the minimap with the N key.
the known keybindings from previous battlefields are not being reused.
cannot orient oneself on the large layover map (m). the playing player is not recognizable at all nor is the direction you are looking
and the graphics aren't anything to write home about (war pun intended). previous battlefields were always a step forward in computer graphics. this time, apart from being detailed in the worst ways possible (see sensory overload) they are merely OK
