General beta feedback from a casual gamer

Hello folks, I found this forum section when looking for a feedback form for EA, as I got to participate in the BF6 beta this weekend - I have some thoughts, and some glitches I experienced

Glitches list:

  • game lobby issue: first time I went to login and choose game mods, the selection screen was blank, and pressing the "ready" button didnt initiate the game launch. Game required restart, and re-que in order to play
  • Death roll: occasionally when my character died on top of a hill or mound of rubble, he would "plank" in the revive screen while slowly rolling down the hill, and died instantly at the bottom regardless of time remaining in revive counter
  • Invasion of the patio chairs: seriously how many plastic patio chairs did you put in the dang game? I had on multiple occasions a perfect firing line and than a freaking chair gets tossed from a nearby explosion and lands perfectly upright in front of me. Is this deliberate? Are WE the "chairforce"? How many dang plastic chairs can you have that this happened multiple times for me lol

Feedback list:

  • a bit too quick: I found as a casual gamer, the pace of the game was too quick and sweaty. Maybe its because you were trying to pull gamers from Call of Duty, but I often found myself dying quickly because the firepower from my m4 carbine wasnt enough to deter 5 players from rushing me with shotguns. Almost made it a detriment to spawn in on squad mates, especially on a map like Cairo
  • The shotgun: everyone is talking about the shotty. I personally have no issue with it being a one shot kill at close range, but you need to reduce its damage and increase spread for long range to make it more balanced. Also, if you up the damage from both carbines and assault rifles, it will balance this out more.
  • The carbine: far too under powered at medium to long range. It feels more like an SMG  and the SMG feels more like how a carbine should be. I had many encounters using the m4 at 50+ meters where Id put 8-10 shots into someone, they dont die, and 1 shot headshot me with a sniper. Very frustrating. Either make the carbine more powerful by upping its damage by at least 15% , or make it so that bullet damage makes snipers flinch so they cant get that shot off while being suppressed. Also the recoil of the carbine is higher than the recoil of the LMG, this feels like its just wrong.
  • Suppresive fire: i feel this should be enhanced, so that players feel more like they need to keep their heads down rather than bum-rushing the play.
  • The Helicopter: in real life the apache pilot has a headset that tracks the machine gun below. In this variant, the pilot only has access to rockets. I would switch roles, and have the apache gunner be able to fire the AGM missiles while the pilot gets rockets and MG.
  • The rockets: helicopter rockets are far too under powered against infantry. Their damage output and damage bloom (aoe) needs to be increased significantly.  Especially with lower ammo and rocket loads, this needs a boost to make the helicopter more significant than a flyable bomb
  • The molotov: seriously, no incendiary grenades? I really liked the feature in BFV where you could throw a molotov onto a bleeding out enemy and it would cancel their ability to be rezd by a medic
  • Assault: can you make this class a bit more dynamic? Have the option to remove the secondary weapon for more ammo and grenades perhaps
  • Health regen: nerf this immediately.  You can take half your full health in damage, hide behind a corner,  and in 2 seconds you are back to full health. This absolutely needs to change. Can you bring in med pack option, like how Enlisted does it? You have slow regen health to a certain % of overall health  and need to stop fighting to use a med kit to heal back to full. This will help ease the pace of gameplay, and make it harder for "sweats" to ruin the fun for the casual after-work gamer
  • Ladders: these were in the trailer, and could be placed to allow infantry to scale walls and buildings. I didnt come across this feature in beta, but I did come across plenty of unscaleable objects that could make that a fun element of gameplay
  • DMR: this I just didnt use, it was so underpowered compared to an AR or a sniper, so I never ended up using it after dying several times with it. Also too much recoil for too little damage, anyone with an AR could wipe you out even if you start shooting first. This firearm needs a one shot headshot as well to make it competitive

Overall thoughts:

This was a majorly successful beta test, and very well run overall - which is why I feel the urge to take time and give this feedback. You guys actually listened to your community, and built a very solid game.

I do feel like this beta was more geared towards conscripting people from the call of duty crowd, and it quickened its pace from what a regular battlefield game feels like. There were less glitches than expected,  and I feel you guys will easily patch this before the next play test weekend.

I am hoping there are more maps in development or for release, and I feel it would be an error to release the game without more playable maps. A map such as Cairo doesnt have much replayability, and it felt old after only a few run throughs.

If larger scale maps are due to be released, than you absolutely MUST increase the damage for all carbines and assault rifles in order to balance the threat from snipers.

Given its state, and the quickness of play, I am a bit turned off of it. I had been considering a pre order, and had fond memories of the midnight release of BF3 back in the day... given the frantic combat, and needing to be in full intense gamer mode in order to stand a chance at all against an army of streamers, I wont be pre-ordering at this point, and Im hesitant to buy it on launch day for fear that Ill be disappointed. Ill definitely buy and llay the game at some point, but this casual gamer will need to see some fixes before I send you a fan love letter for making gaming great again

Cheers m8s 🍻
