Locked Classes for bf6
After playing the first weekend of the beta I tried out the new version of conquest with open weapons for any class and I think it's the wrong move for battlefield and promotes loan wolf and counters the balancing between classes.
I hope Dice doesn't look at the numbers of players who played open or closed classes to determine what direction they should go. As a beta meant for testing and I think most players tested the new system to see how it played out, just because they played that version to test it, doesn't mean they preferred that version.
Dice is moving the deployment beacon to assault to avoid snipers using it for easy redeployment in hard to reach places, which as a recon player I think it's a good choice and promotes teamwork, but now snipers are just going to be the assault class. The class perks of being a better sniper won't make a big enough of a difference for snipers to not choose the assault class. If they get out sniped, they spawn back, make the kill now the recon player has to take a longer time to get to where he wants to snipe from. Assault will still win in the long run.
They took away the med pack from assault, but now players will just use an assault rifle with the support class and get unlimited ammo and health and lone wolf it instead of staying with rhe squad.
The perks given to the class signature weapon don't make a big enough difference and will undo all the balancing Dice is trying to make. Most players just used an assault rifle with the class they preferred.
I think the balance that Bf4 had was a good compromise. Carbines, Dmrs, and shotguns were open to all classes, but signature weapons were class specific. It allows players to play how they want will maintaining a balance and reducing a "meta" loadout that everyone uses. Carbines played similarly to assault rifles, could hold their own, but we're slightly worse. So there were some trade offs but you could still play the way you want while still encouraging teamwork.
With open classes there is not much of a use for assault as the gadgets are lacking, support will be the main infantry, not the supportive role it's meant to be. And engineer will be the main infantry in vehicle heavy maps more so than it already is.
